Will this game run somewhat smoothly with these settings.

 Model Name:re"> MacBook Pro (2010)

Processor Name:re"> Intel Core 2 Duo - I heard it won't run well with intel. is this true or was it fixed?

  Processor Speed:re"> 2.26 GHz

  Number Of Processors:re"> 1

  Total Number Of Cores:re"> 2

  Memory:re"> 2 GB

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. sorry if i didnt put enough info im bad with computers.

So is it worth paying 60 bucks to get this?

Hi, there's a version for Mac called Simcity 4 Deluxe (contains the Expansion Pack), which I can run fine on a late 2007 macbook (Intel 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo), so I'm sure it will run on your newer MB Pro.

If you can't get a Mac version, you can always try to install the windows version in a Wineskin wrapper (see google for that).

Did you order it off the apple store or off aspyr? is that the only way to get it? I'm probably going to get that since i really don't know how to work the windows version.

Also do a lot of the mods work for the mac version?

Unless you have a look around your home town and don't find a version, probably in an apple store, or a licensed seller, then the only way would be online, apple or aspyr should have them.

Yes, it will run on your machine.

And yes, all downloads will work (with the exception of only one...) You should read this article on downloading and installing content on a mac because some uploaders decide to upload files in windows only formats.

You can easily run the WIndows Version in Windows. If you want to use the Mac version, you will have to buy it from Apple or get it on eBay. It isn't cheap, but it does run well. SC4 was designed for Macs built around 2002, so your machine will be overkill, even with the strain of converting from PPC to Intel.

    Hello,

I am a past player of SC4 and once participated in these forums. I haven't played or posted in a long time. I recently got a Mac and have been reading that the Mac version doesn't work on newer Intel-driven computers with the latest versions of the Mac OS. I read on the Apple forums that there is an unsupported patch, but that lags persist.

Can anyone comment on this? I'd really like to buy the game and start playing again, but I'm nervous that it won't run smoothly and ultimately be more frustrating than fun.

    Thanks!

Actually, the issue running on Intel Macs is primarily due to the differences in endianess between the PPC (G4/G5) CPUs and the Intel CPUs. I never really had a lag, when running SC4 with the Universal Binary patch from Aspyr, but the traffic information showed up incorrectly and there were some graphic glitches. Without the patch there was some minor lag, but it was still faster than my PPC Macs. Unfortunately it is just something we'll have to live with until Steam releases SC4 for Mac, which will likely run better.

You're better off using the windows version. The mac version is ridiculously expensive, and I got all sorts of graphic-related glitches. It ran smoothly on my MB Pro 2009 but the glitches bugged me enough to use the windows version instead

Yeah, I don't have a windows desktop on my Mac and would have no other reason to get one. I'm not especially tech savvy, so anything much more than a patch is really a turn-off. I just want a game I can play for half an hour here and there.

What is the "Steam" version and when do we think it might debut? I'm not a super-serious player, so maybe I can live with the glitches... I'll have to think on it.

    Thanks for the responses!

I Bootcamped my MBpro, same as yours, just to play SC4, and the perfomance is amazing (in medium tiles). I spend about 2-3 hours playing and switching OS doesn't bother me at all. Windows runs flawless as MacOSX does.

Do this and you'll play just like before, with a good hardware in the machine we like so much.
