are you sure? check the pieces again. most, if not all, canal sets have pieces that you would place along side of the road as a bridge.

It can be hard, you will have to plop every part of canal(but not 2500 buildings and 50000 mall road pieces like in Optimia)

Some good eye-candy canal sets include Oppie's canal set, BSC brick canals, PEG's Channel Stream Kit (CSK).

Not sure if this has been asked before but I wanted to know about compatibility of canals. Are Oppie's canals, Sim Goobers Irrigation canals, BSC brick canals & PEG's Channel Stream Kit all compatible with one another? If not which are and aren't? Thanks in advance.

Smstevenms: They are all compatible with eachother. Just remember, certain mods may have properties that interfere with other mods, but Canal Peices are merely lots/bats. These usually will be compatible with eachother. In this case, I have all 3 you mentioned and they work perfectly fine with eachother.

    Hope this info helps.

There are two methods to building canals. There was a tutorial on the Omnibus but I'm not sure if it's up yet...*goes to check*

..nope, afraid the omnibus is not back yet. Well in the mean time, this is that tutorial to my recollection...

Also please not, you must do this method BEFORE laying out any transit or constructing anything, or it will all be destroyed in the final step!

With the terrain near sea level, use the God Mode terrain up/down tools and raise the terrain one 'level' (tip: to access all god mode tools in mayor mode, press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT before accessing the god mode menu, although that is not necessary here). Then, using the hole digging lots [link], dig the areas you wish to use the canals in. I recommened 15 meters, as this is the standard for many raised/sunken networks, stations, scenery etc., but you may use any you like. When you are done digging your 'dry canals', drop the terrain back down one level, and voila; you should have your canals! You can now add your scenery (docks, seawalls, boardwalks, ferry terminals, bridges, etc.). For an even better look, I recommend the Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod [link].

The other method, and this is a must if you want to construct canals in a city that's already well developed and you don't wish to delete/destroy, is to terraform out all of the canals by hand. The edges must be completely straight throughout and level on both sides if you wish to use any sort of scenery. This can be time consuming and a bit tedious (you might have to re-drag a bridge or two), but believe me your hard work will pay off...

Thanks, I was just runnig some test, seems ok. I just wish they all used the same water texture, I'll just work around it.

With a little digging and maybe the Lot Editor, you can fix that yourself.

I didn't even think of that as an option, guess I'm lazy. Just seems when I get away from this game for too long, it's like starting over but knowing more than before. So lot's of searching to make sure I have the right dependcies, latest updates and so on. BTW, are the original Moose? and would you know why, while in region view, I'm seeing background texture on maybe four to six tiles across entire city, at bottom running east to west (thats every city - all same position)? You can PM if you know. Thanks alot for the advise as well.

Was wondering if anyone can help? I am using the NAM CAN-Am but I don't see traffic (automata), if I query the canal I do see it is being used. Does anyone know why I don't see automata moving along the can?

I don't know the solution to your problem, but you would be better off to start a new thread as this one started in July 2010.

It would be nice to see the Omnibus article restore though.
