So I just bought this game today, only to find out its completely dead. Cannot connect to it and the support of the website is down. 

This temporary?

I don't even want to play the sodding thing online.

1) the online part was stopped like 6 months ago

2)Monte Christo the developer went bankrupt last month

So its not temporary, , but the patches might be found somewhere just as a explanation how yo keep playing

 Dont know if anyone can help me, I've just purchased the game, installed the patch etc and signed up- But I've put capital letters in my name online (exactly the same as on here- TheLegendJoe) but your not allowed them in the game, If I put them in it says no special charictors allowed, and if I dont put them in it says I have the wrong username or password! Even though the passwords the same as I use on the web site!!!! Can anyone help :S I'm quite annoyed I bought this game, really looking forward to it and now this has happend!!!

You might need to contact focus home interative and then get then to change your name... The capital shouldn't affect you at all, however as it doesn't affect me... You might want to try requesting a new password off of www2.citiesxl.com.
