I've actually been playing this for a long time, but I for the most part I never built highways.  I just started using highways and now my avenues won't seem to go under the highway.  I have to merge the avenue to a street to go build under the highway.  On top of that do the avenues have on and off ramps from the highway?  Again I don't know if this is basic programming of the game (b/c i never used highways before) or if I'm having a problem.  please inform if you can 4.gif

avenues should go right under the elevated highway... try building an onramp by selecting the onramp and pressing tab untill the avenue intersecting an elevated highway tool is selected and placing it in the area is desired... odd problem you have

    no changed files

oddly enough after i posted this it worked.... have no idea why i tried it at least 30 times before that to no avail but thanks for the tips

if you don't mind (though this usually isn't kosher in forums) I'm wondering now if it's at all possible to build a bridge over water into an adjacent city, or do I have to build a small island for it to build to at the edge of the map?

Yes, you do need a small island at the edge of the map for a bridge to join cities.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Or you can use the "diagonal bridges" method, which is not a true bridge in the SC4 sense.. but it looks and works like a bridge (no ferry traffic under them)
