Tram-in-road to subway?

A new player here. I've a few related questions (after browsing the forums for hours and reading up A LOT!):

1) When I build tram-in-avenue-to-subway on both sides of a highway purely to get underneath said highway and then get back above ground, do I have to link the "hidden" transfer points by subway? See attached screenshots...

2) Are they considered the same "line" (and the same "physical" - or virtual - train) or does it even matter? The reason I'm asking is I have a couple of highways with that avenue going under them, and I wonder if the Sims ever "tire" of going "take the tram - transfer to subway - transfer to tram - transfer to subway" etc. and won't use the line...

3) Is there another way to get underneath the highway that has onramps / offramps with a GLR in avenue? Regular GLR in avenue tiles destroy the highway ramps.

Thanks very much!

Yes; if you don't do this, the Sims won't use the tram underpass.

Technically, they're not the same.  But for standard gameplay, they effectively are.  And the Sims never "tire" of taking any routes at all - they will always try to take the fastest one (at least on their morning commute, which is where it counts).

You can use eith the GLR roundabouts under highways and connect them up with the custom highway ramps near the bottom of the highway menu, or you can do the same with the standard GLR-in-Avenue piece that goes under highways.
