I usually use 4x4 squares with roads, then surrounded by avenues... tie the avenues into highways and rails... certainly isn't cost efficient to go into region play right away, but when money is no issue, the sky is the limit.

    The grey "roads" you're building are actually streets, which have a much lower capacity than roads (which are darker black, like those one way roads you have in your picture, except without the arrows). You are getting the traffic jam advisor notice because there are streets that are now over capacity. Try clicking on the "this street" link in the message (it's underlined) to see which street is overused, and then upgrade it into a road (the keyboard shortcut for roads is the "r" button).

    You can also look at which roads are congested by going to the data view (it's the button with a grid and map on it, above the graph view button) and then looking at the "traffic" data view map.

    Also, looking at your small map, it looks like you have nothing but one way roads on your city's main grid? It doesn't look like there's any way for sims to get back to home from work. If this is the case, you should convert your one way roads (the dark roads with arrows) into regular roads (which will not show arrows). I don't remember if you can just drag a road over the one way road. If you can't, you should pause, bulldoze the one way road, and then build regular roads where the one way roads were.

    This is what I've been using...

    It will take longer before you get the traffic warnings, but you can help that too by adding public transit.

    There's lots of usefull tutorials on the Omnibus about road construction.   If you're just starting out a region, I'm assuming you're working on a suburban area.   Here's one guide that I found usefull early on.

    I thank you very much for your help ...

    So you say I'm not building the roads properly, and apparently people can not get home from work?

    I'll check!

    For the map I check the strengthening of traffic I hope I succeed

    Thank you!

    The area I chose to build in this area without trees and clean water, I saw the link you gave me and I thank you very much for your help but I think these links people When you actually professionals and advanced

    In the meantime I will start slowly and build the 4x4 as the roads here, people said later I will check the links I had these very large cities

    Besides! I wanted to say that the community here really professional! Supports ...

    People here are building amazing things

    Install some money plugin then, create networks as you like.

    I start building highways, then divide the space between higways in avenues, the space between avenues in one way roads, add Elevated trains networks or monorail if you like, subways are not a problem.

    Oh well what I'm really excited about beauty of your desire to help
    I'd love to build for me and put the pictures show me how you build an area of no trees and water.

    Not have a subway. I do not need it at first. I just need roads
    I want to see how you divide equally Turn
    Someone told me here to build the roads on the 4x4's how it comes out accurate
    ==================================================================================================

    Now roads built especially for the picture to show you the roads here are built roads AVENUES wanted to know to start building that's good?

    Or it would make me mess the game? Accidents and congestion?

    that should work okay, but i would put avenues along the center lines, they have more capacity than roads. the avenues are also where i stick my civics, it takes congestion off the roads.

    I tend to build:

    First, place an avenue.

    Then, another avenue crossing it.

    Then, another avenue parallel to the first one, thirteen tiles away from the first one.

    Next, a street parallel to the two, in the middle of them, so you get three parallel roads running six tiles away from each other.

    Then, two streets crossing the three roads, with six tiles between them

    A last avenue is placed parallel to the two crossing streets, six tiles away, so that you get a 2x3 grid of 6x6 tiles.

    Last, bulldoze the street between the parallel avenues between the crossings.

    This way, there will be a 13x20 tiles big "frame" of avenues, with six streets dividing it into 6x6 tiles without actually crossing each other. Where the intersections use to be, place bus/subway stations. Put parks/windmills/tennis courts in the 6x1 tile empty strip down the middle of the grid. Repeat process.

    I might post a picture later.

    Hmm.... I've got SimCity on another computer, so I won't be able to post today. Perhaps ASCII will do the trick for now?

    A = avenue

    S = street

    E = empty

    B = bus stop

    Spaces are to correct the non-squarity of the symbols

    AA AAAAAA A AAAAAA A AAAAAA AA

    AA AAAAAA A AAAAAA A AAAAAA AA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AASSSSSSBEEEEEEBSSSSSSAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AAEEEEEESEEEEEESEEEEEEAA

    AA AAAAAA A AAAAAA A AAAAAA AA

    AA AAAAAA A AAAAAA A AAAAAA AA

    Hope this made it a little clearer. I might see if I can make an MSpaint version too.

    EDIT:

    Here it is. Dark grey is avenues, lighter grey is roads (you might use streets too, but the traffic can be a nightmare), red is subway/bus stations, white is empty and the green strips are parks or similiar. Figure out yourself where to put larger lots than 6x6 (with a little creativity, you can still keep the grid somewhat intact).

    SC4Grid.jpg

    You might want to open the picture in Paint and zoom so you can see it better. I tend to zone residental within the 3-tile radius from the subway stations, and "frame" it with commercial.

    This grid might work using streets and roads instead of avenues and streets, but if so, do NOT zone high density.

    Really nice trick with the letters!

    But good you brought me a picture (small)

    WOW finally someone understands me really my intention ... that brought me really good picture is small but still I see what you meant.

    The image is meant any region that is all surface, right ? (Each area will be divided into 6 slots.)

    I'd be delighted with a more detailed picture will ...

    Okay, here it is. It works brilliantly for medium cities, but the traffic can be quite bad on some of the avenues, so it shouldn't be used all over the largest city tiles.

    The idea here is to force everyone to drive on the avenues, and provide proximity to a subway station wherever you are in the city. You'll get a nice profit from the subway system this way.

    My game is in Norwegian, if you wondered. And zoning that much commercial high density was a mistake I made (Okay, it provides jobs, but no skyscrapers. There simply isn't enough demand).

    Look at this picture tell me the way I gave the roads the roads are worth every avenue in the spaces I build residential, office, industrial.

    Spaces are divided on the 4x4 as you see in the picture.

    Is it better to build this?

    It's okay in terms of accidents and problems on the roads traffic congestion?

    I'd be happy to know that construction is correct

    Hmm... I'm not sure. It might be better, it might be worse. Either way, quite a lot of space is lost in the avenues. Try to experiment a little and see for yourself.

    Also, on a side note, when I hover my cursor above your text, most of it appears as question marks (indicating that it's been ran through Google Translate or similar from another language). That, combined with your grammar and city name, is there any chance you are from Israel?

    I made space for me in the picture as you described what you meant?
