In one single Arcology can hold a residents from 65,000 to 265,000 whosever SimCity builders can design a BAT or  lot. The lot will be 20 by 20 or more than less.

I think these would be nice to have in-game if done with great detail, it would be interesting for a futuristic or Sci-Fi CJ. Now I could be wrong, but doesn't this belong in the BAT request thread?

Possible.

Anyway - a lot of that size won't work in Sc4 - I think 8000 is the limit, anything bigger would only grow with the Colossus Addon Mod.

And again - I spoiled Sc2k with these and got the fun playing it back after willingly not using them at all. I dont see any need for them. But if someone wants to create them ...

Without CAM, the max capacity is 24.00, with CAM the max is 64K-1, anything larger won't grow due to game limits. Also, if I'm not mistaking, Arcologies also hold jobs, and that is where things start to get difficult: the game can't handle lots which include two RCI types. I think it will either crash, or abandon, or don't grow at all.

Regards,

Korot

the only way to successfully put an arcology in game is to render the model in pieces that are put on speerate ploppable lots that are then assembled in game providing mixed functionality, the residential lot would have to be grown so should be an odd shape. (so your half arcology doesnt show up everywhere).

I have an idea. It;s possible to make buildings really big (30x30 tiles) but with only a 1x1 lot, if the rest "building" is a prop. So zone a small area with residential and commercial buildings, make as a prop a really giant structure, add it at a 1x1 lot with the Lot Editor, build it in the zones and voil

I think the best way would be to make a set of nine lots (to be arranged in a square), the centre would be an over hanging lot, which can be varied, which provides the model for the arcology. The other eight lots around the edge would look like plaza base things for the main building, but would actually provide a whole lot of residential/commercial/industrial job/people. You could then choose how much of your arcology is devoted to each of these areas.

I didn't mind arcologies in SC2000, but then again I didn't play it much nor did I use them too often when I did play it. Kinda nice to use once in a while.

you also have the model size issue and rendering export problems, hence the segmented model....

Sorry, but i think they are too big. I think the look of a normal city will look much better. A amssive thing like that would interest some people but i prefer building my own cities myself, and not to have those massive eyesores.

And TekindusT, you mentioned a medieval style sim city? im gonna try and make it so the aesthetics work, pop over to look at my thread if you want to help.

I LOVED arcologies! Based on the ones in SimCity and the real one (Arcosanti), I almost went into architecture/civil engineering in college (Instead I went for Physics. Blame GK O'Neill... or Einsten... or, just blame me)

Huh, you are all talking like your computers can handle making these huge BATs and exporting them, lol.

Anyway, I think some futuristic BATs would be a great addition for the game.
