It fits.  A crosswind would be exciting though, haha.

Hi Everyone -

I am working on a scale version of London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and need some help on gates. Has anyone released /produced diagonal gates? Terminal 4 and parts of 1-3 have gates at a 45 degree angle, and I cant find any!!

All the airports shown here are great - they have been my inspiration to create my own.

I have laid one runway (9L and 27R) and part of the taxiways associated with it my next task is to work on the northern runway and taxiways and then build the terminals....... so far it has taken around 24 hours of building . i will post some pictures once i get a bit further

43.gif That's awesome Tek! Though only two problems 1) Both ends of your runway have the same designator (27) 3.gif and 2) Those fuel tanks look like they're in a bit of a dangerous position

Yeah, the airport is intended to host short haul passenger flights and medium haul cargo flights (the taxiing TNT cargo plane is an A300, the largest one I can use here).

I agree with the designator number (what a fail, I don't know how I hadn't realized before!) but as for the fuel tanks; I placed them there because of the lack of space. This "island" is the only place where all airplanes have an easy access... As far as I've checked, only the A300 would have a problem there.

I really get a kick out of seeing my work in your airports, guys! Really glad you're enjoying the MMPs, there are more of those coming out soon too! Great airports, Frdm920 and TedinkusT, and very nicely taken pictures. Bravo.

well, some improvements to the macallan int airport added some shuttle to the plane, buses, trolleys and vehicles to the airport streets. And finally the financial center, the hotels, convention centers and of course tons of tax free shopping malls, and food courts and restaurant. hope you like it. try to select what i think are some of the best bats created by some of you guys.
Some pics for now, later some.

Ok so I'm building a new airport. Only problem is not sure where to put the following things:

  1. Terminals
    • International Terminal 1 (Serves B747s and A380s)
    • International Terminals 2 - 3 (Serve 737s and A320s)
    • Schengen Terminal (Flights within the Schengen Area 737s, A320s, CRJs, ATR42/72s)
    •  Domestic Terminal (737s,  ATR42/72)
  2. Air Force Base
  3. Cargo Handling Area
So this is the plan:

checoloma: a lot of your pictures weren't pictures of airports. Please be more considerate when posting pictures as more pictures consume more bandwidth. (very expensive for some users)

Frdm920: That looks promising. Hope you post some progress shots.

I really think we should have a picture posting limit per post in the forums with the exception of the CJ sections.

I agree with the picture posting limit.

Limiting it to 5 sounds fair

Frdm920: Maybe have all the terminals on the inside of the "L" shape the runways make, and have a different style for each as if the terminal has expanded and modernised. Cargo could go to the south of the parallel runways. I've never seen a major airport with air force facilities, commercial and military are usually kept well apart.

Progess has been made!

Cargo Area:

Cargoarea.jpg

Aircraft Repairs Area (Currently hangers can only handle planes up to 737/A300)

ParkingRepairs.jpg

Airside of Schengen Terminal:

SchengenTerminalAirside.jpg

Current plan: As you can see I haven't placed the Air Force base and I'm probably going to drop it.

AirportPlan2.jpg

AS = Airside, LS = Landside

Was thinking of trying to make T2 AS part in this type of style (Airside D):

What does everyone think?

More progress!

@ King, yep those are yours 3.gif If you make an active version expect them to get used as well. Oh and these are yours as well:

T1.jpg

Terminal 1 is now fully complete (obviously though the surrounds are not)

T2.jpg

Current state of Terminal 2, Still needs completion

So things to complete:

  • Terminal 2
  • Terminal 4 (Domestic)
  • Grass
  • Surrounding Area

I think that they are tow tractors, they popped up on my cargo ramp when I put in a very large hangar, not the NZ one but I forgot the name of the file. They are the ones in Frdm920's pics.

Frdm920, as for your question about placing a military ramp, try putting it in across the street from the repair area. I've seen some joint use bases in real life, Phoenix Sky harbor and the old AFRES base at Van Nuys Ca. along with Chitose and Komatsu in Japan. Check the LEX for some good military lots to use, also most joint use fields have just one or two types of military air craft. The exception is a Joint Reserve Base where both Navy, Air Force units use the same facilitates.

I just lost six hours of work on my own airport, I guess I'll start over in the morning, this time I plan on getting some screen shots as I go. Here's what I have planned,

International Terminal, Domestic and Commuter Terminal, Air Cargo ramp along with a JRB. What I would like to know is where I can find some lotted Huey and Blackhawk helos? I spent quite a bit of time in an H-1 and H-60 squadron while I was in the Navy and they would look good on my ramp.

Frdm920: That airport is really huge! It didn't seem so in your first picture. Good luck with that, by the way.

Ok main body of terminal 4 is complete. Will take firehawkordy's advice and put the military ramp near the Hangars

T4.jpg

So basically all that's left is completing T2 the taxiways and tidying up.
