Contour lines

Is there a mod or addon that can show contour lines in SC4?  I'm trying to build a resovoir behind a dam and I would like to have the plopable water at the same elevation.  Being able to have an addon that could show contour lines would make the process alot easier.  I'm using the terrain query cheat right now but its kinda slow and tedious.

Not that I'm aware of.... but you never know. How I would do it is by using the quick level brush tool to ensure that all the land you'll be building on is at exactly the same height. You access it in game by holding cntrl, alt & shift and pressing the sun icon. You made need to install the additional god mode tools, I forget if the level brush was part of that or not.

Try Ctrl+Shift+C. That will create yellow contour lines. There aren't any elevation numbers, but the lines will be present.

Whoa!!! shocked.gifHow cool is that.

Is there any way to adjust the height difference between each line? What other unexpected key commands lurk within this game?

Welcome to Simtropolis, iw_765.

Do you have the Extra Cheats DLL?  The TerrainQuery command of this will give you handy elevation coordinates on your cursor.  The DLL can be a bit tricky to use, so please read the instructions carefully and post back here if you have questions.  If you don't want to use it you can click Ctrl and X together to open the cheat window, and type TerrainQuery into the upper left hand window, enter, and it should be on your cursor as well.  Repeat to remove it.

Thanks CaptCity.  Its working in a few of my cities, and will be helpful. But the city I am working on I think the difference in elevation is to small for it to work (a little over 100 meters).  The only contour line is just below sea level.  Is there a way to adjust the elevation the contour is set at?

I had originally thought there was a way to change the interval, but I haven't hit upon the right key combination... Or maybe it's not possible and I'm just imagining things. If I find it searching around, I'll post it.

Edit: I must have been thinking of this post over at SC4D. Seems the interval can't be changed, but it is different for different-sized cities. For what it's worth...

It would be a handy if there was a tool where you could type in an elevation and it would show the contour on the map.  I could see it also being used to lay a rail track with as little elevation change as possible.  Unfortunatly this iron workers computer skills aren't even close to being able to figure it out.  I can build a nice office building or a bridge, but I'm lucky I can start the computer lol.

Thanks for the welcome,  I just started playing sc4 again,  I've been lurking around getting some custom content. The cool Peg pponds mod led my to seek help.

I've been using the ctrl -x terrain query.  Does the extra cheats dll keep it on the cursor when your placing stuff?

I know it's there while you have the traffic query (alt-/) on (but it may require some form of "/" key combo to work)
