I use Sc4mapper with Windows 7 64bit with no problem.

You may want to check the forum at sc4devotion for sc4mapper, if I remember correctly there was something funky about the path of my documents that could stop it from working.

I've also used SCTerraformer on windows 7 64bit with no problems either.

This is how you do it, I guess I have to take it upon myself to explain things to people since the moderators and people that create the program aren't very good at explaining things, and if you still can't figure it out then you need to uninstall your game and shut your computer off and relinquish your holding of ay technology you current own..

This is intended for Windows 7, 32-bit... I don't know know if this applies for any other OS.

Follow these directions at your own risk, I explained them in a way that a 5th grader could figure it out so I assume you guys can figure it out.

1. Go to "C:\" drive...

2. Click "Users"...

3. Right click "My Document"...

4. Select the "Properties" button...

5. Select the "Location" tab at the top of the page...

6. Select the "Move" button in the middle of the page...

7. Type "C:\My Document"... (Now don't be an idiot and include the "" marks either, the computer doesn't know what that means)

8. Then press the "Apply" button located at the bottom of the window.

9. Select "Yes" to any messages that pop up regardless of what you think you know of computers.

10. Now you wait for the files to complete it's transfer, should take a few minutes depending on how much junk you have on your PC.

11. Press the "Ok" button and close all windows...

Now if you go back to the Start Menu and select "Computer" you should have a "My Documents" in the C:\ drive now instead of in the C:\Users.

Final step...

12. Unzip whatever files you downloaded and needed to look at this info for into the C:\My Documents folder that you just moved, and don't move it back to C:\Users... It's perfectly fine where it is.

Hope this helped...

Hello, Jason.

First of all, thank you for the step-by-step instructions concerning the My Documents folder.  I'm sure that they will be of use to people.

Having said that, I would appreciate it if you would NOT be so condensending to the member and, especially, the Moderators and Staff of Simtropolis.  Your comments were very insulting and I, personnally, am offended by them.  How dare you make a statement like you did concerning the moderators of this great site.  We moderate as a volunteer and, if we are unable to answer a member's question right away, it is because we are busy with real life.

As for the writer of the SC4Mapper and SC4Terraformer application (which is the great wouanagaine) HOW DARE YOU attack his honor or ability to "explain things".  First of all, he is French and English is not his native language.  Second of all, wouanagaine spends most of his time at SC4Devotion these days.  He IS NOT developing these applications any further.  They were written and given to the community free of charge and on an as-is basis.

If people are hvaing problems using them on Windows Vista / 7, the mapping community is the best resource to use for support -- and that support can be found within the Mapping Community Board Room.

Since I do not have Windows 7 (I use Windows Vista, 64-bit), I will get your information independently verified and, if satisfied, I will take this information and inlcude it in a future OmniMaps article for which I will give you credit.

Thank you again, Jason, for the information and please try and be more polite in your posts from now on.

Regards,

Vandy

For those using Windows 7 (64-bit), here is how u do what Jason said and get moving the folder to work....

1) Go to C:\ (for those who dont know how to get there, click on the start button at the bottom and the click on computer to the right, then double left click C:\)

2) Double left click the Users Folder

3) U should see an Owner Folder, U double left click that folder, & U should see the My Documents folder

4) This is where u right click the My Documents folder and select the properties button

5) When the box comes up U should see the tabs at the top and one of them should say Location....click on that tab

6) In the box, U will see the path for where the My Documents folder currently resides...to get the moving process started click the Move button in the middle

7) The box comes up asking u to specify the folder u want it moved to....type C:\ then click the select folder button

8) The box disappeares and u are left with nothing in the path box except the C:\, this is where u type My Documents after the C:\ (there is no spacing between the \ & My....it shud look like so C:\My Documents)

9) Now click the Apply button, and click yes for every choice that comes up....If u get a thing that says the directory doesn't exist, do u wanna create it, click yes

10) Then all u gotta do is wait for everything to move and you're done

11) After everything moves, just go back into C:\ and U will see ur My Documents Folder

P.S. - these directions are for Windows 7 64-bit users only as I am on that version, I have not done this on any other platform so if you are using another platform and follow these directions, you are doing so at your own risk.....
