In Game Markers or Labels

Hello, I was hoping to find out if there is anything on the STEX that would serve as a marker or label to basically use a as reference point when creating a city.

I have a wonderful transit plan written down and I want to create my city around the future highways and rail roads- without making them from day one. I found in my last city that creating a highway and SR system on the first day of my cities existence was a disaster.

I don't know what to search for or call this but I am assuming it would work like the sign tool in the game (doesn't take up and space, free). Thanks for ya'lls help.

Indeed the labels/signs can be used. I saw a bit back that at least one person was using them to do what I consider ELABORATE layouts and planning for his/her cities and transportation. It was pretty impressive in the work done. I've never done it and regret that I don't remember the person doing it.. You'd no doubt get a lot of ideas from it. Maybe someone else can give a link if they've seen it.

Thanks for all the help guys, maybe some sort of free 1x1 survey point BAT that could be used to mark future highway routes and sunken railways. [deleted by tungston]

As said above, the in-game signs and labels are perfectly acceptable for this kind of thing. Just place them on the site to be and name them "highway" or "sunken railway" etc.

Failing signs or labels, I normally just outline an area with streets and build around it making sure I provided enough room for future on-ramps/overpasses and interchanges. In the case where I plan future avenues I just make sure I leave 1 tile free from the street/road. It's a really annoying system for me 15.gif

I have used that same plan for potential avenues. I like the idea for using streets to layout future expansions, but that can get a little pricey. Does anyone else use a more fiscally responsible system?

If you have the RHW, you could use that. It doesn't have a maintenance cost, as far as I know.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I just use the in-game signs for this. The "signpost" ones are too ugly and prominent to be used as anything else, so I just make a path of signs to indicate where future expansion of routes will go. Like a long row of signs that say "CANAL" or "BRIDGE" or something like that - about every 20 squares or so. Just as a reminder to myself not to put a stadium there or an actual neighborhood worth keeping.
