LED Lane Divider Enhancement Project

This is not an actual project.

This is just a suggestion until a modder or team takes it up.

--------------------------------

While in summit with the AFDES nations (my CJ union), I came up with a new Transit network idea for Road, OneWay Road and Avenue networks. Inspired by a concept in an XBox360 game, I came up with the idea of replacing the white (or yellow) painted lane markers or stripes on roads and avenues with LED Lights.

During the day, drivers can easily tell where the lane dividers are. But at night, the markers light up, and the lane dividers are easily seen through the dark. In game, the lights in the roads would be rectangular LED's, same shape as the standard painted stripes. During the day mode of the game, the lights would have the dim tint of the its color when it lights up at night. Of course the road networks would need to be powered to show up at night. And in the night mode, the rectangle lights will glow just like any street lamp in-game.

It's been said that the task is possible, and perhaps this could be a new addition to the NAM Teams next release of the NAM.

What do you all think?

Yes, the concept was the streets seen in the downtown area of New Mombasa in the Halo games. It's a great concept! 9.gif

And I was told Blue Lightning was already creating a prototype of this modd, but by all means, anyone can do it if they want to.

Great idea, but you should be able to choose that the LED's only where put in the road on sharp corners (puzzle pieces).

Yeah, the lights would be nicer glowing white than yellow. Good point. 4.gif

Does anyone know if night textures are even possible? Or should it all be done only through models?

Generally nightlighting of the streets in game is long overdue for major overhold. It's time to get rid of those silly lights that are so far and between that serve no visual point. Plus High Wealth areas are completely drown in darkness at night.

However given the method used for lighting in game  it may require over-hold of the basic road textures. Namely brighting them up a bit. Because being so dark that wouldn't really pick light well enough especially in Dark night modes.

Conceptually we need new lamp time - a flood lamp that would have a very wide beam and probably not all that circular.Things to consider is how much it should be targeted only onto road , or should it also catch sidewalk?, Or should sidewalk be light separately. Generally the idea is to get brightly light night streets one see in major cities in the world.

Of course it would be silly to see the same in some small town or village, assuming that those aren't Belgian once - the entire country is brightly light at night... So may be there should be some density based criteria what lighting is used where.

Well, I got a solution for that issue:

I completly replaced the light cones with some sort of glow on the road.  Looks a lot better than the original light cones!

My original concept was to make the lane dividers glow or light up, not having the whole road plus sidewalks light up.

I'm not a modder, but is it really a difficult job making the lane stripes glow at night? Is it impossible to give them night-lighting?

    Edit:~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've updated the concept I'm going for.

Note: The center yellow stripes and the outer white stripes glow (night-lighting) their respective colors.
