One of the STEX downloads i have came with a SC4LooseDESC file. What is it? is it the same as SC4DESC? and will Datpacker recognise it?

a loose desc file is created when a building is modded using the new SC4PIM, it is an intermediary and is entirely redundant. it should have been removed before up the, please delete any loose desc files you have, they are just taking up space.

WARNING: Just to clarify what mightygoose said, this refers only to those leftovers from the new SC4PIM. You will need to keep ordinary .sc4desc files for growable lots.

In general, loose .sc4desc files (no matter how they are called) are only needed for growable lots and for loose props. If you have any ploppable stuff (park, landmark, traffic building, civic structure, reward, RCI plop), then the .sc4lot file and the model file is all you need. The .sc4lot file contains the .sc4desc file in these cases, so to speak.

The same can be done for growable lots, too, so when you download something growable and don't see an .sc4desc file, don't panic. It has probably been merged with the lot file by the uploader. However, when you download a growable lot and see a desc file, don't delete it!

Yes, I know - I just wanted to make absolutely sure that nobody accidentally  deletes a loose .sc4desc file that was actually needed because of a confusion between a loose .sc4desc file and an .SC4looseDESC file. 46.gif
