 hey guys, First topic here.

so i was wondering about what would happen with CITIES XL after the end of P.O.and a little issue was brought to my mind..

if the PO ends, the website, the city journals and all that interation between players will just end. At First i thought MC could pull out some sord of interation between the players within the solo mode, just like Spore or The sims 3 have, where you play by your self and you can upload information to the web so other people can see it, and all the stuff. But i was disapointed after sending a message to the MC team. this was their answer.

"Dear Paulo,

First of all, we would like to thank you for taking an interest in Cities XL.

Thank you for your e-mail.

The current site features are tied to the Planet offer and they will end with it on March 8. However the trading gameplay and tokens exchanges will be possible in the Cities XL 2011.

As soon as we will be able to communicate further information, we’ll publish it on our website www.citiesxl.com.

Don't hesitate to go on our website and visit our Support section. You will find many answers you might need regarding the game.

Thanks again for playing Cities XL,

Best regards,

The Cities XL Team"

Ok so i saw two problems there. First in my opinion, they are putting all of the effort in this "new" game the Cities XL 2011, and it seems they are not trying to make the original XL better. and Secong, they said "Trading System and Token exchange", well thats cool, its a very good feature that i love BUT, it is very nice in the gaming world to show off your stuff, and compare cities and all that. so i think just beeing able to trade and exchange tokens is not enough to impress the XL gamers.

i wanted to know from you Forum. what is your opinion about this, Should MC work on the interaction between players withing the solo mode?? (i think spore would be the best way to look up)

see ya

Thanks o/

Corrected mispelling in title--was a bit confusing.

I do not think that Monte Cristo should work on interaction but on core game mechanics and features.

The only possibility to "save" the game or to "guarantee a future" is to support modding.

Basically we need a tool to create buildings (or better to import them into the game). Moreover current restrictions need to be removed after the end of PO.

Concerning city journals etc: Why not using any external sites like simtropolis? You may even share your SP-cities with others. I do not see any problem to interact with each other. It does not need to be the "official way".

MC should concentrate on more features.

Simtropolis is your new home! 3.gif

As Andre stated, MC needs to focus on the game, instead on the 'interaction'

Just like SC4, that's only SP but it has a strong community...

Sounds almost like they may move the trading on to a new model where you could trade with other players using their servers but only a very tiny amount of data is stored or used between players. That should have been what was done in the first place to cut down on server space and demand. Much like saving cities online wasn't necessary. Only a small amount of information was needed to handle PO (minus the walking around with an avatar thing), and had they stuck with that model then I bet things like trading and city interactions would have gone more smoothly.

Then again, they could just be upgrading the trading system so it's fair trades with the big bad corporation or maybe even multiple corporations.

Either way, journals can be posted here and if you need chatting there's also here or the possibility to create an IRC thingy just for Cities XL players.

I don't think it's going to be an entire new game, and I don't know that we will have to buy it (we certainly won't be forced 2.gif).

It seems the game will be an "improved" version of CXL with the focus solely on SP. I think the cost of this, if any, to people who already have CXL and especially if they subscribed to the PO, is unknown, unless I've missed some information which is certainly possible.

Anyway, this won't be a whole new game it doesn't seem, so they are doing what you asked, focusing on improving the original.

As for the online stuff, I guess it might be nice for them to host everything, but it doesn't make much sense from a business perspective to take on the costs of hosting all that stuff when it isn't part of any revenue-generating scheme.

The better bet for them is to push it off on fan sites like Simtropolis, just as was done with SC4 and as is done with most games. Honestly most game sites kind of suck anyway as far as forums and stuff, their only advantage is being "official" and maybe having more official word come downt hrough them. It is usually better for the player to have the freedom to go where he chooses and post how he wishes.

This fragments the community a bit, but then again, that was happening anyway without official forums; some people headed here, others to other sites (especially other language sites like the German one).

Hopefully the game will improve, more people will come back to it or try it out, the mod makers and content creators will get busy, and we'll have lots of interesting city journals here in the CXL CJ area (there are already a few there, some are interesting, but obviously with a better game and more users, there will be more quality and quantity and variety). That's a best-case scenario at this point, but I've got my fingers crossed.

I just found out about this game and didn't even get to try multiplayer 15.gif.

It seems fairly strange to me that they'd be working on a sequel to a game that has a poor subscription rate and came out 4 months ago (according to wikipedia it was October 8, 2009). Couldn't the grand amount of money being spent on development be spent on advertising or (god forbid) improving an existing game?

    I'm just saying.

Ehm...not really. These pictures were made in CitiesXL!

All exposed buildings can be found in Cities XL. They are just unlocked...

PS: You can find even more "new stuff" in my gallery at CitiesXS (except the first to pics).
