I've noticed that there are a few threads that indicate a certain number of pages but the last two or three are empty. One example is the NAM General Discussion Thread. Currently it shows 144 pages, but the last post is on page 141; the remainder are empty. I'm pretty sure I've seen this on other threads but can't remember which one at this time. Is this just a glitch we'll need to live with (like the page flip bug on older threads), or can those empty pages be eliminated? When using the "Current Discussion" links on the Homepage, he link goes to the empty "last" page - could be confusing to users if they're not aware of the glitch.

Maybe we could start a new thread and reference the old one if this is deemed an important enough issue...?

Just wanted to bring it up...

Thanks

We've nicknamed that "reverse PFB" and it's a leftover vestige from ST 4.0.

If you feel it's appropriate to re-start old threads, go for it.  Be sure to link back to the old thread in the new one so people can go back and reference it if necessary.  4.gif  Mods should lock the old thread with a link to the new one in the last post.

An emergency tip against this situation is typing the desired page number in the URL bar. For example:

We are in the Show Us Your Airports thread (one affected by this "reversed PFB", as I experienced by myself):

    https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=23&threadid=63412&STARTPAGE=56&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear

When I posted in this thread, the page 57 was "hidden" suffering this problem. I went over this by changing the "56" for "57":

    https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=23&threadid=63412&STARTPAGE=57&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear

Now, the Show Us Your Airport thread doesn't has this problem, but I think this system can be an "emergency solution" for all of us...

TekindusT: That would be the solution for a thread infected with the PFB, not the reverse PFB. In case of the reverse PFB, the page with the last post shows up normally, but so do a couple of following pages. Finding on which page is the last post is the main problem though.

Anyway, I've seen this also a couple of times, I wonder how it is caused. Since PFB is caused by deleting posts, perhaps the reverse is caused by adding posts, without using a reply function. Ergo: merging topics?

    Regards,

    Korot

ST 5.0, actually. That problem never existed in ST 4.0. It was created by the switch from idealBB to FuseTalk.

It thus is only be a problem with threads that were started before April 2006. Threads started after that potentially become subject to the regular page flip bug instead.
