This is my recreation of Lancaster County.

I WILL be using the Money Trees for financial needs, and also you don't deserve it.

I am starting this completely from scratch, so i will have to form the landforms myself.  please comment, this will be slow starting, but It will get good.

Here is the start (compliments to mapquest)

Now I placed where the Cemetary is, it's across form where Redman's used to be. I forget what the statue is. Is it William Penn or someone like that.....

The only thing that hit me was King and Queen don't have medians. Though I though they added a nice touch.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif> I mean they are a 4 or 6 lane road...

    No problem.

Those are nice pictures you have there, but I think he's doing Lancaster County, PA which is in the U.S. Those sure are fun pictures to look at though. It seems like a nice town.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>

hmm... didn't I say that I was Doing Lancaster, PA, US?

    oh well.

anyway, I know there isn't a median like that, but it does look a LOT better, and also I kept getting lost, and it helps me to find my way.

I am using loads of maps for this, so it helps to have.

Yeah, I kind of figured you know there wasn't a median, but it does look better with it.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/25.gif> I like the progress, but what are you going to due for Central Market and the tallest building in the city (Don't know its name, but you know what it is)?

I know this thread is dead, but i just got back from the sandbox. Lancaster's tallest building is the Griest building on the NW corner of Penn Square...for those who don't know.  What happened to your remake? Well I'm planning on 2 versions, 1 is gonna be the Lancaster that could have been if the capitol wasn't moved to Harrisburg, if Milton S Hershey kept his Candy Empire in Lancaster, and a few other events that shaped the city. the 2nd will be a replica of the real Lancaster.

Hey Ash, we had talked about this before.....fellow Lancaster Native here......your remake up until the last thread was remarkable.  I was really excited to see this.  I think you had mentioned that you deleted this city though.....quite a bummer.  It was quite surreal seeing my city laid out on SC4.

SimEMS....if you are planning to do a remake of Lancaster....please keep me posted. Would love to check it out.  It's funny that british guy mentioning The REAL Lancaster  That is not the first time I have heard a brit say that.  I think they really dont like the American Lancasters.  But we still use the same history.....Red Rose....War of the Roses with York (White) etc.  I just can't get over this thread.....awesome awesome.  44.gif Dont let it die!!

Right now I'm doing my fictional Lancaster. It's not gonna be recognizable but you probably could pick out a few things from the real Lancaster. I don't know when I'll do the remake....pretty soon I hope. If I was a whiz at BAT....which I'm not yet I would start working on such buildings as the Griest building, the tallest in Lancaster at a whopping 15 stories, LGH & LRMC Lancasters two main hospitals, McCaskey High School...not your typical looking HS!, the Armstrong factory, Ramada at the Brunswick, PARK CITY!!!, the Fulton Opra House, Conastoga View, the Civil War Memorial at Penn Square,...did I miss any Sparks? I've tried several times to recreate Lancaster but the map wasn't helping me out. I'll try again and I won't finish untill Lancasters finished!!!9.gif

I think you covered most of the basic landmarks that makes Lancaster recognizable (sp?).  Don't forget the Amish..lol.  And now we are even getting a baseball team (Barnstormers) I once thought of doing Lancaster County as well....but like you my BAT skills are absent.  I was also going to try and recreate Philly...but again....the landmarks just aren't available.   Some other things that come to mind when I think of Lancaster....is the Conestoga Steam Mills.  The School District of Lancaster has adaptively reused Mills #1 and #3, as the Carter and MacRae Elementary School. Located across the street, Mill #2 houses the Water Street Rescue Mission.   It's located on S. Prince St.  Another thing that is hard to do with the replication is the architectural styles of homes.  Look forward to seeing it!

I never thought about it before but since Lancaster, PA is squared out it lends itself to be made into a SimCity. I grew up in Lititz, PA so I can't wait to see it finished! Keep me posted. Are you going to make a BAT of the train station?
