Hey everyone. I was wondering what you guys consider essentials for Sim City 4. By this, I mean not only for functionality, but also for realism, beauty, etc. I figure I'll probably make a list of these as they roll in.

Although I don't use it, I think RHW mod si essential for realism purposes; and smoncrie's Hole Digging Lots bring infinite possibilities for your terraformings, I use them for a lot of things...

About the BATs, I couldn't tell because everyone has its own building style and what I consider a must-have BAT, other wouldn't even look at it.

A slope mod isvery useful if you don't want your roads and rails going up 50 feet in one tile.

Martin892- I love SimGoober's lots. I just can't download many of them because I can't find any of the dependency packages on here. If we could get a link or two to find those, it would be greatly appreciated. 9.gif

Some of the dependecies may be on the LEX at SC4 Devotion.. If you had any specific lots you were looking for, I could give you some links. 4.gif

Most of the dependencies for SimGoober's content are included in the BSC packs that can be found on the LEX (as DCMetro34 mentioned). There is a good resource listing here. You will need to be registered and logged on to download.

I think the bare minimum for essentials would be the:

RHW, NAM, SAM and the Extra Cheats Dll.

However, simtropolis is very diverse and we have so many BATs, Lots and Mods thats its very hard to organize them into essentials since there's just so many. Honestly, I have learned what my essentials are just by being around the community for a while (you pick it up as you go along.) 2.gif Anyways, I'm sure peoples opinions on essentials are very different from eachother. I'm also guessing thats why we don't have a guide on this yet.

    Cheers!

Ow I forgot... Building Ploppable Mod!!!

Be very careful with it, the residential buildings abandon easily and are not traffic-enabled (there is a thread about it somewhere), but it offers the possibility to make very realistic high-rise suburbs with many of the same buildings (as well as commercials which don't show up in de landmarks section). I grow as much buildings as possible, to get some realistic traffic patterns, then I fill up the rest with ploppables to have a realistic view (they increase city population, though).
