How exactly does it work?

 So, I've downloaded plugin... erm, extracted it in plugin folder... and still I can't find them in the game? :s I've tried

rename 'em ".dat" - but it didn't work :\ 

Am I the only one having problem with this :s 

someone, help.

this files I've downloaded from this website are no .jpg .. I mean ... I just wanna know what are the usual steps? can someone just like explain it in a few steps...?? so that I can see which one of those I've skipped ...

Take a look at THIS POST.. it will explain a lot of basic info

When on  the STEX, when you click on a lot, modd or anything else a 'details' window will popup. There, you have the tittle of the lot/modd/etc. (1) then the creator (2) and then the picture of the lot in-game. Under the pictures there will be a link that says 'download' and the size of the file on the left (3). You have to click that link and a download poput should appear. This will most likely be a .zip file. containing the necessary files for the lot to work or an installer.

After you download that .zip open it and extract the files inside to your plugins folder, inside your 'my documents/SimCity 4' folder.

Be carefull to read the description of the lot to see if there is any dependency needed for the lot to run. They are usually at the bottom od the description.

okay, let me put this issue this way... I'll explain what do I do and then - please, can you just tell me where did I went wrong?

Anywayz... here's what I do....

1. I go to this web-site

3. Then there's this very simple explanation what I'm supposed to do... (which I follow, but somehow I fail) .. :\

4. So pretty much my only option is to download file, read the comments and to read the descritpion... I usually do all of it and then click

DOWNLOAD

5. I takes around 30sec (or less, but this one is big one - 4,5MB) to download it ... so I wait a bit

6. When I open the file, there are 3 files inside:

CO$$$6_10x5_SEV_Grow_b5ebe834.SC4Lot (42KB)

Plop_CO$$$_SEV_d52a60fb.SC4Lot (38KB)

SimFox_SEV_Building_DarkNite.SC4Model (4,34MB)

7. Since they're zipped, I unzip them either to my folder I usually have it on DESKTOP (sc4plugins) or I have'em unzipped directly to my

(C>>Program Files>>Maxis>>Sim City 4 Deluxe>>Plugins

8. So I do "extract all" and by all I mean this thing here:

C:\Users\Robert\Documents\Downloads\SimFox_MoscowSEV_Building_DarkNi

9. Once they're extracted... I consider it finished...

I go to the game, but I never find what I want

so, I've got a few more question, that just might be the problem, but I'm not really sure... so...

1. I run SimCity on 64-bit windows, could that be the problem?

2. my SC4 Deluxe is not a genuine one -.-' is that a problem?

3. Should I restart my computer?

4. Should I start playing in new region?

5. Any other suggestions?

Ah, so you just haven't got the updates. That's fine.

So, when you click "extract all", do you put into the space what your plugin folder is? Or do you just leave it as it is?

You need to extract into the right plugins folder. Any old folder named "plugins" will not work.

The proper directory is C:\Users\Robert\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins and/or any subfolder of it.

Okay guys... LOL ... I did it =)) I've got it!! ...

hm, yeah - the problem was geniuine updates ..!! I took some time and had it installed all of them - and now most of stuff work fine... Some, however still doesn't but those are some strange... I can even c/p which one exactly... but that's okay - I saw on the comments I'm not the only one whom these stuff didn't work ... =)
