How do you get rid of traffic polution from Highways or avenues?

Trees help a little, but for the most part, an efficient mass transit system is needed.

I use road top mass transit so I can place a subway stop on every corner of my city. It is expensive but because I can start zoning denser because of less traffic, it starts to make a profit.

Also clean air act and automobile pollution reduction act in city ordinances can clear a lot of that up, and a good mass-transit system.

Mass transit helps a lot. Especially subways, they take congestion and pollution off the roads.

There is a mod or two that claim to clean it up, but I am not sure about that.  The air cleaners used for industrial air polution won't touch it, I doubt trees will do much for it either.

I use the clean air act, carpool incentive, and automobile pollution reduction act. Works like a charm. They can be pretty pricey so make sure you have a good inflow.

I might be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that the carpool incentive has absolutely no effect in-game.
