Thanks everyone 1.gif My BAT projects are going to have to take a backseat to assignments for the next week or so, so i'm hoping there will be some other people that can dispaly their own New Zealand stuff to keep the thread going.

When i get some spare time i'll probably be working on releasing West Plaza some time towards the end of this month.

Let me know your opinions before i finish it off. What do people think of the random sculpture on the front corner? Take it away or leave it?

Also, do you think i should include the Vero Signage:

I love it, sam_lawrence! I reserved a space in my city for it.

From what I have seen so far, it seems that you have a lot of talent at BATing. I hope that you keep up the good work, and I am now VERY impatient for the release of some of your other Auckland Landmarks! (But don't rush, take your time, don't put this infront of your life just for me2.gif)
    Good luck 44.gif

After a short delay i've done some touch-ups on West Plaza, and here it is:

    Westfinal.jpg

If people think it's looking good i will release it as it is here, or you can suggest changes before i do.

Can you randomize the lights in the windows? Otherwise, the building looks great!

I find it funny that people always randomise nitelites on office towers, when if you look at a real-life skyline, the lite windows are almost always in horizontal strips. I had a play 'round, and i'm liking this alot better now:

Thanks alot for the suggestions so far! Keep them comming 1.gif

This is excellent work; you have a great eye for detail and have translated reality into the Bat. The buildings are large but with a human scale that I would expect from a city as liveable in as Auckland. My only concern is that the lots might need a bit more work, apart from that they are great.

It look awefully nice. However, does it need to have parking spaces in front of it. Is it the way the real one is ? I really think fine landscaping would add to its sheer beauty.

Thanks for the comments folks 1.gif I should have mentioned that lot was just quickly thrown together to see the building in the game. I don't have too much experience with lot making though. I've now got it on a 3x3 base with plaza surrounding. Any better?

    westingamewithplaza.jpg

I'm propsing a plopable landmark version along with a growable Co$$$ version with 240 jobs. Does that sound ok?

looks great! but is it just me or does this building look way too small? compairing the floor size to the surrounding buildings, i'd say it should be atleast doubled in size.

keep up the great work! im really looking forward to the Vero Center!!

It is a little small and i'm going to scale it up a few percent, but it's not half the size of the other buildings. Maybe you're confusing the dark grey strips between floors for floors too? Thanks for the feedback 1.gif

I was bored tonight so i did some work on Eureka Tower. I'm considering releasing it without the base at first as it is going to take a while to do with my limited free time. Do you think i should do this? Here's a render of it without a base:

    eurekanobaseresized.jpg

Also note that this is a test render, so these are not the final textures. I will also be adding more detail 19.gif

No interest in Eureka? hm ok..

I've been playing around with the idea of releasing a series of modern suburban houses. What does everyne think of this? Here is a house i've made that was inspired by a house in Christchurch:

    ModernHouse1slightlybigger.jpg

    all sides:

    ModernHouse1Render.jpg

This house is almost ready for export, so make any suggestions now. If thre isn't much interest in it i won't continue the project.

I would produce a number of different houses (R$$ and R$$$), mostly with a minimal design to spice up the generic, repeatitive, traditional neighbourhoods we have at the moment.

The Eureka Tower is looking nice. I am just wondering about what height range it would be in.
Also, making more low density residential houses are always in need. Especially the R

hey, i'm interest in Eureka! although i thought this was being constructed in sydney? not awkland. but anyways, maybe twice as big might be too much, but once the stex is back up, you should download the RLI Prop Pack , there are perfectly scaled premade doors and other stuff in there that you can scale the rest of your building to, so u can see if one floor is at the right height or not.

now with the Eureka Tower, i am not too crazy about the textures, i have some pretty good blue window textures if you want to borrow it haha. i like the yellow box texture, but the windows and the white lines should change, you should have a texture for the white lines too, something that's not so uniform. might want to try something like this

    http://img74.exs.cx/img74/7061/metaltexture09.jpg

and that's a pretty nice house! but some suggestions: i think the brick texture (if that's even brick) is too dark, and als you should put some roof junk on too. you might want to make the awning alittle more thick, looks kinda too thin right now...and maybe even have it sland downwards alittle?

We do have interest on this building that is already very famous all around the world of skyscraper fans. The fact that not many peoples showed interest for this specific building is, to my opinion only circumstancial. Don't give up on it.

    Thanks again for the feedback!

nooneatall, Eureka will be very tall. It's 298m in real life, so if it is going to be a growable building it will probably quite safely be the tallest residential building in SC4.

jtportland, Eureka is actually being made in Melbourne, Aus. I thought of starting a new thread for it, but i didn't bother just incase i didn't get around to finishing it. So i posted it in here just to see how much interest there was it in. Thanks so much for all those pointers too! They should come in handy. And i'm aware those textures aren't very good. I just threw them on to get some idea of what it would look like. I also took some of your suggestions for the house and it looks a bit better now. The cladding is actually wood so i've greyed it down a bit. Here's an in-game pic (brown house is slightly to the left, while another house i'm working on it slightly to the right(in the grey):

Yep, Eureka tower is being constructed on Southbank in Melbourne. I was gunna do that one after I did the Rialto *grumbles*.

BTW, it's nowhere near finished yet either, here's a pic of it from Oct '04:

wow, eureka tower is going to look really cool! i like thoes weird yellow blocks on top lol, is there any use for them??

what's up with the Vero Center!? the last picture i saw of it looks really good! it looks finished even, when will this be exported?

nice job on the modern houses! i really like them, especially the grey one, the wood building should have some more on the roof, looks kinda plain. other than that it looks great!

The gold boxes on the top are inhabitable, although i'm not sure if they will contain any of the apartments. There are observation spaces near the top so they might be in there, and the very top two or so stories will be the plantroom which will house mechanics as well as satellites and antennas.

thesdale, feel free to do your own version of Eureka, but that won't stop me doing my own 3.gif So what if there's two Eureka's on the exchange for people to choose from...

jtportland, The vero center is almost ready for export, but i'm still waiting for my brother to fix the P4 (the P3 i'm on can't handle it), not sure when he's gonna get off his backside and do it, but hopefully it's sometime soon.

West Plaza is going to be exported soon too, and i've finished 3 out of the 4 houses for the Modern House series that i plan to release as a pack, so look out for that in the next few days aswell.
