Lord_Bertrum: Eureka hasn't got too far either i'm afraid. I've only gotten as far as experimenting with transparent glass textures:

They haven't finished building it yet, so I wouldn't get too fussed.

I work right beside it (well when I'm in the office anyway). Up close it's not that exciting a building. It works better with the carpark beside it (the one with the big orange louvres) and a 7-11 at the base. I should take some pics next time I'm in the office.

Yeah that's exactly why i'm not in any hurry to finish it yet. And besides, the official design of the secret spire hasn't been published yet, so there's no way of knowing what the very top of the building will look like.

I've made some more progress on Metropolis. Once i've made up some chairs and misc things to put on the balconies i should be away laughing. Then the base and it should be ready for release. I'll post another pic tomorrow if i have time.

    A quick update on Metropolis:

    Suggestions?

Looks nice. The only thing I can suggest is adding some sort of texture to the step platform on the top, right under the spire. (unless that's what it actually looks like)

Thanks for the feedback. And that's my intention - to texture the crown. It does look pretty boring there. It's going to be hard to get a realistic texture for it though. I've had basically no time for any BATting lately, but i'm hoping to get Metropolis back on track some time soon. After that i'll probably be doing PriceWaterHouseCoopers for people that know what i'm talking about. For those that don't it's another Auckland landmark - a modern 32 floor office tower.

Also are people happy with the window textures in the above picture?

I like the way that tower is coming along, and yes I do like the windows. I was wondering about that tower on the last page.

Are you still working on that, and are you thinking of releasing it, because I really want it. If you are not then can you send it to me through email, MSN, ect ? Thanks

Yes i will still be releasing that observation tower from the last page, but as i mentioned before i haven't had any time for BATting lately. As far as finishing it goes i'll just rework the textures and small details. Before i release that though i'll probably do a revised version of the Auckland Skytower which is also on the previous page.

Going back to the Metropolis, I think the windows look just fine as they are. I don't think that the crown texture on the roof is too bad. The colour is ok, just a little plain.

    A preview of Metropolis:

    metropolispreview5by.jpg

Almost finished now. Just need to add in some lighting on the windows. Also i think i'll decrease the lighting intensity on the spire and brighten the lighting on the base a bit. Then it should be ready. Unless anyone has some suggestions? Critical comments encouraged! 1.gif

The lightening that you have used is just right it's slightly subdued which is better than some of the intensley too bright overlit BATs we sometimes. Great work Mate!

Woow sam_lawrence, your building looks really like the real.  I can't wait to see it with the night lights.

sam_lawrence, i have a little question for you :  Do you will release your beautiful observation tower in the middle of the third page?  3.gif

scififan68, Thanks for the comment, and I'm glad you thought so too 2.gif I've added some lighting to the windows and it looks fine.

Lord_Bertrum, Thanks again for the feedback. I'm glad someone else likes the subdued lighting! I agree that some bats have just a bit too much lighting which is why i've toned down the lighting on this one. Also residential buildings generally aren't brightly lite.

Woko, If all goes to plan expect it on the STEX in the next month 2.gif

Well Metropolis is basically ready for release once i bring all the files and things together and i'm happy with the way it's looking in-game. An updated Auckland Skytower is also almost ready for release - for this one i've fixed the scaling, added detail and improved the texturing on the first version which is on the STEX now. Once i have those two out of the way i'm going to be continuing work on that (yet to be named) observation tower on the third page. It shouldn't take too much to fix up properly as it's a pretty basic model.

Hi there, Ive had simcity since the week it came out, always wishing for landmarks ive actually SEEN!!! Since you released the skytower ive put it in nearly every city! The metropolis building is great, and other than the spire I think the lightings about right, except it might look a little dim compared to surrounding buildings. 39.gif It might be too awkward but modelling skycity casino would definitely be interesting.

I see its on the front page now. Good job!

    Excellent job Sam!

I saw Sky News on Saturday, it had a report on Eureka Tower, Although construction is still under way people have already moved into the lower floors. They interviewed a man in his 50's who with his wife had sold up in the suburbs to retire to the tower. He was very happy to have finally joined the latte set has he kept saying.
