You might need to render the map with a height mod in the plugins folder. The "import.dat" is the most common.

The region needs to be render while the mod is in the plugins folder.  You may have to experiment with different heights to get the right one if the creator didn't bother to add that to the description.

Just in case you haven't tried it yet... I started playing around with some different height mod files when I saw your original posts... With the 'import' file, the terrain comes out extremely high. I then tried the 100m file, and almost eveything was under water. That's far as I've gotten. Maybe one of the mid-range values...?

Looking at the download in question, I found there to be images that were created with the SC4 Terraformer. It looks like the person saved a custom terraformed region using the Terraformer, but saved the image of the map instead of the .SC4M file. The greyscale is simply the map image generated by the terraformer, saved into a greyscale. I don't really think it is possible to get the image shown at the beginning with the included greyscale unless you can find the person and ask him for the .sc4m file.

You can, of course try importing the images into the Terraformer and adjusting the settings to see if it will turn out better. All the height mod import dats are included for use with the Terraformer as well. I tried some of them but they didn't seem much better...
