Sorry, posted this the first time I don't know where.

How do I take a screenshot.  The "Print Screen" key doesn't seem to do anything.

Where would I find the screenshot if I took one?  I am running VISTA.

You can find the screenshots in C:\Users\[YOUR NAME]\Pictures\Monte Cristo\Cities XL

These need to be taken with the in-game screenshot option (The small photocamera)

If you use Print-Screen: Just open Paint and use Ctrl + V (Paste) 2.gif

Exactly what Stef42 said.  You can also use the [F11] key to snap a screenshot.  And you can use [sHIFT][F11] to snap an ultra-high resolution shot (for much, much greater detail).  These all end up in the same spot.  If you want to have the UI in the picture, though (to show population or money flow, for example), you'll have to use the PrntScrn method.

To show the UI on screenshots, you can use [ALTGR] + [F11] too 2.gif

To sum up the different shortcuts:

[F11] : classic screenshot

[ALTGR] + [F11] : classic screenshot with UI

[sHIFT] + [F11] : mega-screenshot (high-res)

[sHIFT] + [ALTGR] + [F11] : mega-screenshot with UI

[CTRL] + [F11] : level shot (whole map from above)

Be careful with megascreens though as they need quite a lot of memory.

Level shots will also sometimes show some of the layers you might have displayed, such as wealth or fret/passenger.

I've heard of the ALTGR but don't know what key(s) that is on my standard DELL, US keyboard?

It is not on a standard US keyboard. In vista, you can choose what programming your keyboard uses. So even if it is a standard one, you can set it to Spanish (which as enye (n with ~ over it) and altGR) or even to Dvorak.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

On US International keyboards, ALTGR stands just right of the space bar. On US Standard keyboards, this key seems to be a simple ALT key.

Could you let me know if the ALT key on the right works to take screenshots with UI on your Standard keyboard?

The right ALT+F11 does not take a screenshot for me.

Thanks, I thought so. It's noted and changing this key has been filled in as a feature request.
