  1. Harbors and Road connections?

    Thanks for the reply (been involved with March Madness, LOL) so hadn't replied till now. I guess I will have to try the time thing when I can.
  2. I am having trouble trying to get a road connection into my harbor so that it can function. Anyone have a technique that works?

    Thanks for the reference. Too bad "the" manual (that paper thing that came with the game didn't go into the detail you've done here.

    It seems most megastructures require 50 office's in the initial build phase. How does one go about getting 50 officies? I've never had much luck with that.
  5. Buss lanes

    Poor designer (me). I presently only have two cities going, each around 120k pop. Since buses are an expense, it hardly seems worth it at this point. I don't have any traffic areas that look the least bot congested to the point where buses would be of any help. However, I want to add them anyway, just because they look cool, LOL. My best idea may be to start a 3rd city, and do the design where the industry is way off in it's own corner of the map and everything else away. Then give the "sims" (can we use that term here?) buses to get to work!!!

    A well reasoned, thoughtful essay. Thanks soltangris for the effort. My only regret is that such an effort should even be needed. Why can't people just enjoy the game for what it is, and the obvious potential that MC seems to want to work toward. Give them a chance. If you want to wait for perfection, you will wait a long time and miss a lot of fun along the way. CXL is not SC4 and as far as I know, one is allowed to play BOTH of those games! It is fairly easy (for me, anyway) to envision down the road an "expansion pack" (call it City Life XL-II if you need to) that would include busses in SP--just an example.

    To "soltangris"--Thank you so much for providing this in-depth look at the buses. Do you know if MC will update their "manual" to include such a presentation? What's the point of having an on-line accessible manual if you don't keep it up with the game?

    Sorry, posted this the first time I don't know where. How do I take a screenshot. The "Print Screen" key doesn't seem to do anything. Where would I find the screenshot if I took one? I am running VISTA.

    Still not clear on the "cost". Like I have a couple of blueprints (not activated yet). Each of them says "Upkeep cost 50,000," Is that paid when I place the blue print down in a city? Then when else--every "day" (whatever that is), or every time I add tokens to it for the construction?

    How large (population) do you think a city should be, before installing a Blueprint in it? They seem very expensive to build, but then I'm a very poor city builder, LOL. Is there some minimum of positive cash flow one should have (and hopefully increasing from there). EDIT: Another question: What is "Upkeep Cost"? Sounds like more than one time--how often are you charged?
