I have to admit, I do have a taste for tofu. But meat-shaped tofu? NO THANK YOU. I've had enough rubbery, disappointing meat-shaped vegetable product to last me a lifetime. But we are willing to take care of our vegetarian/vegan friends out there, just in case they show up and don't mind the freshly cut animal flesh cooking on the grills!

I'll have a Hamburger, cooked medium, with sliced beetroot, coleslaw and 1000 island dressing .... thanks.

We are still having some lovely winter days, really don't mind the cold nights when the days are nice enough to do some touch up painting on a fence.

Have ordered a duratuf shed (wooden frame and floor) for the back garden, am just waiting for the factory to make it, and then it will be delivered as a flatpack and then I just have to get the company that builds flatpacks to come and stick it together.

Am looking forward to it as I got rid of the old shed last year so it's going to be nice to have somewhere to store things again.

CURARE SUNDAY

Don't quit your day job...

I have no idea what titillating innuendo Mr. Seagal(attired in a slimming Bedouin's tent) is suggesting in the title of that last song, but I deduced it involves the unrestrained consumption of assorted pastries.

Uh oh. I missed Curry Sunday. I don't know how I managed to do that. Oh well. Here we are for a Nacho Monday, instead! We can do simple nachos with cheddar cheese melted on top of them with salsa or picante sauce for dipping if you like. We'll put out some seven-layer nachos as well, with cheese, sour cream, taco-seasoned meat, re-fried beans, salsa, avocado, and green onion. Have a Tecate or a Corona to wash it down. Enjoy!

Churros are delicious!

Hey! Look everyone! I'm back! I made it in time for Curry Sunday! For tonight's curry, we're going to go with curry fried rice. Included with our fried Japanese rice are peas, carrots (cut into cute little cubes), potatoes (also cute little cubes, but larger than the carrots), chicken (but we also have pork and tofu for those who want something different), yellow onion, and green onion. Bon appetit!

I always make mine with a scoop of black and a scoop of brown rice added to the white. And chopped shiitake shrooms and a couple of raw eggs(don't pre-scramble like they tell you). Snow peas, chopped green onion and finely chopped chicken or those tiny cocktail shrimp. And don't spare the soy sauce!

sounds yummy

Had an interesting day, my new shed arrived and the other way to get it into my garden was to crane it in over the top of my neighbors house, luckily it all went really well as it wasn't till afterwards I realized that my house insurance probably wouldn't cover dropping a garden shed on their house

took picture standing on my front porch and just after it had cleared the neighbors roof and the crane driver had just started to lower it down .... ended up at the side of the house

Looks like a wood shed, not the vinyl kits. I'm guessing 8' or 10' x 12' on the dimensions. I'd offer my services, but the cost of shipping my saws, nail guns, drills, router, cords and a 30 gallon compressor (not to mention myself) would probably nix the deal. Besides, with this virus thingy, they might not even let my on a plane! *

Either of you two will be better off working on a shed without me. I have no inclinations towards building anything, I never had a talent for it. I'm sure I could follow the instructions (presuming there are instructions) but it would be a long, hard struggle.

I had another 10 hour day today. Pretty much everyone at my company is working 50-60 hour weeks and there is just no end in sight. After a long hard day of work, be it on the road like me or in an office or out behind your house building a smaller, probably cuter house, what could be better than a vat full of stew? Overflowing with beef, potatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, eggplant, and tomato, we'll do our stew up right and serve it along side piping hot, fresh baked bread. Instead of mead to wash it down I think I'll stick with ye olde mugi-cha (barley tea). Ah, hits the spot.

The stew sound great ........

And in the course of a day we have gone from life as normal to back to Covid-19 restrictions, so I am back working from home, no idea if the builder I had organized for next week to build the shed is still going to turn up, but at least I don't live in Auckland where they have added road blocks on all the roads going in or out of the city to stop people leaving or entering, its back to L3 (with L1 being the lowest set of restrictions and L4 the highest) restrictions for them and in some cases people have been ordered to go home and not leave their homes for 14 days.

you are pretty spot on for the dimensions - its 11ft long by 4ft wide and 6.50ft high, its not all wood - its a timber framed internally, wooden floor, workbench and tool-board, a window on the side (by workbench) and its clad in coloursteel (I replaced my house roof last year with it) panels and comes with a 30 year guarantee.

At this moment, you are better than 90% of the locals in my business, as you know your limitations and admit it. All you have to remember is squares, triangles and circles. If what you built does not resemble 1 of those 3 shapes, you F-ed up. *:D :(

That's called corrugated metal here in the states. And yes, my eyes are actually 2 tape measures. :8)

No whatever the world has been this year because of Covid-19, its never been that .... one of the actors in Hogan's heroes Robert Clary was asked how he could be in a comedy about POWs in a German POW camp given he and his family were rounded up in Paris in 1942 by the Germans and deported to Nazi concentration camps and only he survived to be liberated in 1945 and he said it was the difference between night and day, so yes this year has been a lot of things, but I have a roof over my head, food in the kitchen, a job that I'm gratefully to have given the circumstances and all my family are currently ok .... so life is a lot of things at the moment, but never that horror.

I guess the analogy might be a little harsh. Let's call it Federal Prison World...and hopefully, you don't know anybody doing time. *:???:

Prison works for me, I used to work next door to one and the postal service wasn't real good at delivering packages to the right place .... after a couple of trips over there to retrieve things, I was perfectly happy for the prison to keep whatever it was

Does it count if they are a prison officer, one of my siblings is one, only deals with the ones being paroled and their parole officers .... its decent pay and they are considered essential workers.

We're getting ready for another week, and what better way to prepare yourselves than with a CURRY SUNDAY! For tonight's curry, we'll go with a mild yellow Thai curry with chicken, green and red bell peppers, bamboo, and mushrooms served over a fluffy bed of white rice. And since I love them so, why don't we fry up some coconut shrimp and set out that tasty peanut sauce to dip them in?

I've been making halfhearted attempts to leave my job, nay, my entire industry since pretty much the moment I started working in it, but it's been pretty disappointing. I would much rather work at home and sell my stories than continue to measure kitchens and program a CNC. I've seen the inside of more people's kitchens than I could ever have dreaded, but at least I have curry Sunday to get myself psyched up for another week of this nonsense. At least it hasn't completely stopped me from writing, although the 50-60 hour workweeks we've had all summer aren't exactly conducive to building a creative life...

All my favourites ....yummy

sorry to hear that, in my case I know I would get better pay and conditions if I left my job for another, but I like the job and the people and its five minutes drive down the road so unless they decide to get rid of me I'm probably going to be working there till I reach retirement age.

Like you guys we are having an election this year, ours is every three years, and in the third year the government gets to decide when to have it .... the election date has to be on the third Saturday in the month, the earliest its been held was in July and the very latest is November, so we were set to have the election on the 19th of September, but because we have Covid-19 back its been moved to the 17th of October, we are also have a couple of referendum's that we have to vote on, the first is the cannabis referendum and whether to legalize the sale, use, possession and production of cannabis in New Zealand ... that's a non-binding vote so the new government doesn't have to implement this even if everyone in the country votes yes, the second referendum is a binding vote so has to be implemented if enough of us vote yes even if the new government doesn't want to do it ... to be honest am not sure yet just how I feel about this one (one day I'm yes and the next day its no) as it would legalize voluntary euthanasia for those people with a terminal illness and less than six months left to live.

We couldn't take an election every 3 years. We can barely take it every 4 years. Eventually, they're going to legalize weed all over the world, and nobody will want to smoke it anymore. It wont have that "danger" allure.

I "had" a similar situation, but in reverse. I attained my creative dreams, but realized that world sucked too. Glad I work for myself now. Sounds like you work for a designer outfit. Only advice I can give is "Go on, take the money and run".

We luckily don't have to decide who will be the prime minister (equilvent to your president) as this is decided by the political party itself, but we do get two votes one for the party we want to be the government and a second one for the politician we want as our representative for the area we live in .... they are separate votes so you can end up voting for two different parties.

Japan has a Prime Minister, too, and the UK and probably plenty of other countries, I suppose. Speaking of Japan, I wrote a new article about getting my driver's license in Japan for a car website. I'm hoping my submission gets accepted and I can turn it into an extra (and more fun) stream of income, but that's not the best part. The best part is that I'd be published alongside a writer whose work I've admired for years as well as Jay Leno who has a special place in all car guys' hearts.

Since we're struggling through our year without Star Trek, we're going through the Marvel movies... for the second time. Iron Man 3 tonight, where the bad guy is the Mandarin. Instead of Iron Man's classic Chinese bad guy, we get something else entirely (that pissed off a lot of Iron Man fans, but I liked the twist so whatever). I don't know if that really has any kind of a theme to it, so how about some hot wings? I don't like getting my hands messy so I'll take mine boneless smothered in garlic buffalo sauce with some ranch and bleu cheese to dip them in. Help yourselves, we have all varieties!

Not here thru it is Deep Space Nine, just started watching the second series and "hot wings" will go nicely with tonight's episode.

Builder arrived today and built the shed only disappointing bit was when he unpacked it, the glass for the window was broken, shed company is sending a replacement but it might be a few days before it arrives and of course its raining so am holding off putting anything in it in the meantime.

Are the skids made out of regular lumber, because if they are, they'll rot and warp? Should be made out of PT(pressure treated). Wards off termites too.

It comes with a 30 year guarantee

https://www.duratuf.co.nz/our-story/

So I'm guessing it's not regular lumber, had to look up termites and found we have three natives that live out in the forests .... so not really a worry unless you are building out there, but it seems every so often we get an invasion of australian termites via shipping crates  that are very like the ones in america .... and a major effort is made to kill them off before they spread cos they do like houses.

I'm talking about the wood underneath the shed. It looks, from the pic, like regular lumber. If it is, that's a bad place to have it. If it starts to rot, you'll end up with a lop-sided shed and a door that's a pain to open and close. Easier to fix when it's empty- use a car jack to lift it(or find a few strong friends to lift and move it) and apply a copper naphthalene(ask your local hardware store) or even a good outdoor paint) .

CURRY SUNDAY! If I was given the opportunity to live in any fictional universe I would absolutely and without hesitation choose the Curious George PBS TV show universe. We've watched an awful lot of that show with our kids, and it seems like just a wonderful place to live. But here we are in the real world, and what we have is Curry Sunday to ease us into a new week.

For today's curry, let's find some thick udon noodles and have curry udon. We'll put in daikon (giant Japanese radish), sliced pork cutlet, a hard boiled egg, and of course, udon noodles. Garnish it with green onion. ITADAKIMASU.

Brain has finally caught up, shed is sitting on a concrete pad approx 6 inch high, with metal reinforcing bars inside concrete and surrounded by wooden framework which is probably regular lumber and that's what you can see, I was thinking of keeping it and painting it, as it does make the concrete edges look quite tidy

People who did concrete pad got measures slightly too small so shed sits on about an inch of the wooden frame at either end
