Well, in the above case that was actually Cookie Monster Blue.

Curry Sunday will now commence without any fancy font colors.  Instead, we'll rub curry, cumin, and garlic all over a bunch of pork chops and grill them up.  Let us serve them alongside some sauteed veggies, say, onions, green, red, and yellow bells peppers, potatoes (because I love them so), and zucchini.  I'll have Texas toast on the side.  Anyone want to share some Coronas with me while we eat this?  Dig in!

Porkchops sound great.  I'm more of a Guiness person, but beggars can't be choosers:  pass a Corona down this way!

That looks wonderful.

On a different and fun note, we've just begun booking our winter vacation to Japan.  Going there always feels like going home, I guess part of it is because my kids were all born there, so we're really excited about it.  We'll hit up Kusatsu Onsen and see a day of sumo at Kokugikan.

So how about some chanko nabe?  We'll flavor the broth with miso and then add in all the things sumo wrestlers love to eat: bunches of tiny white mushrooms I can't remember the name of, shiitake mushrooms, hakusai, meatballs, salmon, potatoes, and I'm sure there are other things they put it but I can't remember what right now.  Rest assured, whatever's in it is absolutely delicious and packed with fat and calories.  It'll keep you warm this winter.

Love Japanese food.  Never been there myself, but my college roommate was the son of the U.S. ambassador there.

You know what sounds good right about now?  Some curry fried rice.  Curry fried rice with some peas in it.  And tofu.  And scrambled eggs.  And broccoli, green onions, shiitake mushrooms, eggplant, and bamboo.  Because it's CURRY SUNDAY!

Who's up for big pretzels?  With big little cubes of salt, maybe some molten cheese.  Hm.  Not just any molten cheese.  NACHO cheese.  Hey, we'll put tortilla chips out there, too and make tonight an impromptu Nacho Monday Except On A Thursday.

I'll take a pretzel!  Love those things. I'll wash it down with a corona.

Love the pretzels, but I'm pretty close to Philadelphia where we put mustard on them.  I'll take the nachos and cheese on the side, though!

Lookin' good.  But, when does pizza ever look bad?  Well, funny you should ask, but yes.  Yes it does.  In Japan, they put mayonnaise on it.  MAYONNAISE.  Rarely have I ever been so disgusted.

Let's have pizza tonight, though.  Indian style.  Vegetable curry, including bell peppers (I wonder how they'll taste), cauliflower, onions, potatoes, eggplant, and zucchini, and we'll pile it all on a piece of naan bread.  Curry pizza!

Tonight we'll prepare a vat of Bolognese pasta with a side of garlic bread, because who doesn't love garlic bread?  Caesar salad to start, and we'll polish it off with chocolate cake topped with white frosting because that's some tasty stuff.

For tonight's CURRY SUNDAY, we'll offer up something new.  Curry udon, thick buckwheat noodles in a curry based broth with hard-boiled egg, a slab of broiled pork, green onions, potatoes (of course) and chopsticks.  Japanese noodles were meant to be eaten with chopsticks.  We'll have some onsen manjuu (sweet bean paste encased in a thin layer of some sort of dough) for dessert.  Green tea will also be served, real green tea, not this brown crap or the disgustingly sweet crap they have at Panera Bread.  Enjoy!

I'll serve some more green tea tonight.  Oh, I love green tea, it's so crisp and clean, and it goes with anything.  Like tonight's special: KUSHI-AGE, fried anything on a stick.  If you want it, we'll dip it in batter and dunk it in the vat of oil and cook it right up.  And when I say anything, I mean anything.  Octopus, cod, Milky Way candy bars (fun size), celery, eggplant, dough, pork cutlets, steak, turkey, tuna, salmon, mackerel, Twinkies, whatever you want, we got it!

It's a CURRY a SUNDAY a!  Tonight, why don't we cook up some chicken biryani and serve it over rice?  We'll put onions and potatoes in it, of course, and the rice we'll serve is basmati.  It's been a while since we've had a good biryani.  Let's enjoy it!

Ok.  Beats hot dogs, anyway.  And could I get a Guinness to wash it down?

WILD RICE SOUP!  The wonderful people of the Ojibwe tribe nearby held a tobacco processing workshop in the traditional way.  This means pulling the stems out of the leaves, squeezing the nicotene out of the, uh, the leaf matter, squeezing it some more, squeezing it again, putting it into paper towels and squeezing at least twice more, pulling it apart and squeezing it again, and squeezing it one last time to get it as dry as possible.  Then you set it aside and let it dry and then you can offer it as thanks to nature when it provides you something, or to someone who does you a favor.  Traditional Ojibwe tobacco is extremely important to their culture and it's an honor to have been able to take part.  So we'll partake in some wild rice soup (but it really seamed more like a stew) to commemorate the experience as that was delicious, too.

I am in the mood for some Thai red curry today, served over rice of course.  We'll add some red and green bell peppers, bamboo shoots, shallots, and mushrooms.  Instead of chicken or pork, we'll put some fish in it.  ITADAKIMASU!
