iiiiiIT'S CURRY SUNDAY!  Today we'll be preparing butter curry, a mild curry with a hint of buttery sweetness.  Added to it we have mutton, potatoes, onions, and we'll serve it over basmati rice or in a bowl alongside however much naan you could ever want.  And afterwards, I'll set out some chocolate chip cookies, not very Indian, I know, but I love them, they're delicious.

Here its nearly CURRY TUESDAY and what the heck why not have a midnight curry + some naan not much tho and I think I'd better pass on the chocolate chip cookies

Looks like I missed a good meal.  Never had Mutton before, what does it taste like?

lol.  My understanding is it is a lot like lamb but tougher and gamier.

Not much for the gamier taste, but I'd at least try it before I turned my nose up at it. *:D

Mutton is sheep, you guys!  It's like beef, only really tender (maybe it depends on how it's prepared, but I've always experienced really tender meat reminiscent of beef).  It's delicious.  Deer meat is venison, that is a red meat that is considerably gamier than your usual hamburger.

Today is CURRY SUNDAY!  For tonight's curry, let's mix it up a bit and curry some pork and skewer it and grill it.  We'll mix in some onions, potatoes, and peppers and have a curry-flavored barbecue.  As always, naan and rice will be served to those who want it because, hey, why not?  And since I love it so garlic bread will also be available.

In New Zealand sheep meat are split into three categories, lamb is under a year old, a hogget is over a year old  then after they are mutton and are over two years old

Yes, I knew mutton was sheep, I've just never had it myself.  Anyway, I will try some of your curry bbq kebobs.

On tonight's Star Trek Deep Space 9, O'Brien must suffer.  20 years of imprisonment implanted in his head in an instant, giving the poor guy hallucinations and some severe PTSD.  Interesting episode.  I wish they would have touched on it more in future episodes, but oh well...

it's CURRY SUNDAY!  For tonight's curry, let's go with the tried-and-true Japanese brown curry, using S&B's Golden Curry roux.  Pop in some onions, potatoes, and chunks of pork and you have my favorite curry dish in the whole world, served over basmati rice or naan.  Yum.

My grandson is coming over (haven't seen him since fathers day), think I'll fire up the grill and have some hamburgers and beer brats for lunch.

Sounds wonderful.

It's that time again.  CURRY SUNDAY!  For today's curry, we'll add it to the grill: curry-rubbed chicken on skewers, chunks of onion, potato, green pepper and aw heck why not broccoli added to freshen things up a bit.  Let's get crazy and put some butter-and-soy-sauce-covered corn on the cob with it, and hey, have you ever grilled garlic bread?  Because I'm about to try, who doesn't just love garlic bread?

Ice cream for dessert.

Yay, grilling!

A few days ago, Food Wishes posted a recipe video for cooking Ping Gai Chicken (Laotian Grilled Chicken).  I don't know how truly authentic it is to Laotian cuisine, but it looked really good.

The Grilled Greek Chicken - Garlic, Lemon & Herb Grilled Chicken Recipe had me salivating and binge watching too.  I hope our grill here has enough room...

Oh my, Turkish Chicken Kebabs, and Chicken Spiedies!!!

I'm a big fan of broccoli, cheese sauce or no, but I can certainly understand others' trepidation towards it.

We're preparing for a camping trip deep into the woods tomorrow.  Since it's the 4th and everyone will be setting off fireworks all night we're going to try to avoid it in the middle of National Forest land where such things are forbidden.  So tonight, we'll whip up a simple quiche with bacon, green onions, and mushrooms and serve alongside some applesauce banana bread.

Broccoli is nice, as long as it has not been cooked to long. 1 min, not longer.

Keep the boiled water and make an easy sauce with butter, kitchen flour, an curry.

Well, we were rained out of camping.  Oh, sure, we went out there and got set up, willing to brave the scattered showers we were predicted to get.  And when the first showers formed overhead and passed over us everything was fine.  So we grilled up an early dinner and watched more, darker clouds start to form, and then as the first drops fell we retreated to our tent.  And then it POURED.  Biblically poured.  Our pour tent was overwhelmed in a less than an hour and began leaking under the torrential rain as lightning flashed above and thunder immediately followed it.  After nearly two hours of nonstop rain pounding our poor tent into submission we loaded up our 4Runner and fled the campsite, soaking wet and exhausted.  Don't feel bad for us, though, we had a great time.  It was hilarious, especially thinking about how badly mistaken the forecasters were!  We laughed through the whole thing, and it's something I'm sure we'll all always remember.  We're looking forward to the next time we go camping.  Hopefully it'll be a little drier then...

Anyways, how about we roast up some fish on the grill?  Some river trout, blackened and salted, and we'll serve it with Japanese sticky rice, pickles, and beers.  I think I'll have a Sapporo Black Label on this pleasant, warm summer evening.  For those of you in the southern hemisphere, we'll keep the fire going to keep you warm as winter deepens.

We went on a surprise 8 mile hike today!  We thought we were going to wander the lily pond loop at a local park, but it turns out we missed the turn for the loop and ended up on the North Country Trail instead.  It was all good fun.  Even the kids didn't whine (they were looking forward to ice cream at the end of it).  So tonight I'm pooped.

Even though I'm pooped it's CURRY SUNDAY!  We're doing instant curry!  After a visit to the curry museum, we have a healthy variety of instant curry pouches!  Just pour on rice, microwave, and enjoy!  I'm having the mutton curry.  I don't much like carrots cooked, but I'll just eat those first and savor the rest.  We have a few of those, we have spicy, we have sweet, we have chicken, tuna, beef, pork, veggie (tofu is the protein there), we have brown, green, red, yellow, we have rice, we have naan (although I'd hate nuking that), whatever you like it's here.
