I've decided to keep all my creations in one topic, for tidiness.

So far I have made 2 buildings from the Canary Wharf district in London and my mushroom house. I got bored with the modern school I was making but will complete that soon, all I need to do is put the night lighting on and add some roof junk. In the meantime I have been modelling a house that was shown on Channel 4's house design programme, Grand Designs.

This house is based on the one in Argyll.

Once I have completed this house and the school, I will carry on making the office blocks in Canary Wharf.

    Well, I've done a lot on the house and here is what it currently looks like;

    /idealbb/files/modernhome02.JPG

The sad thing is, that when it renders the glass is very unclear and not very easy to see into. I was hoping to have some furniture inside. <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/9.gif>

Well, if you improve as fast as dusktrooper did you'll be on the BAT squad in no time.

Here's an update of what I have done so far. Its a rendered view of the front and those transparent windows look great! I'll have to try making some furniture like tables and sofas to go inside.

    /idealbb/files/modernhome03.JPG

There's still a little more texturing to do and some more detail needed on the roof.

Tell me what you think. <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/10.gif>

    Here's today's update.

    /idealbb/files/modernhome04.JPG

Can you see the furniture inside?

Next task is to finish the texturing and then do some night lighting.

Well, actually the furniture aren't that visible. Maybe you shoud add some lamps or plants inside the house; and why not some curtains on the windows ?
And to finish with, would u mind adding a chimney pot ?

Apart from that, excellent modelling 2.gif
We really miss modern houses in SC4 7.gif

keep up the godd work 24.gif24.gif

Very nice, I was going to move into one of those types of home in the countryside (commute problems dicated otherwise), I like this design - very contemporary.
Are you going to be creating any more in this style? If you do, then you may be able to make a small community out of them, perhaps.

It's quite nice. However, there are maybe too many windows on the roof. 2 on each side would be enough.
    Good job so far!

if your gonna place windows on the roof, try lowering them.

Day view is finsihed and I am happy with how it looks.

    /idealbb/files/modernhome05.JPG

Night view will be the next challenge. The windows are so big that it might be heard to get the textures to work properly. I'll also need to get a set of lights on it to illuminate from the inside.

I will be making more contemporary houses like this but only after I have modelled One Canada Square which will be next week. I'll make a building log for that somewhere.

Been playing with night lights and have decided not to use any night textures on the windows. On windows of this size they are very ugly so I have used a set of directional lights inside the building. I don't think square lights are possible (but if they are, I'd love to know how<ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/2.gif>) so I have had to use round ones. It looks great though.

    Any suggestions, before I render?

How about a metal roof texture?  Try getting the SC3000 roof textures, or make some in paint

Its actually meant to be like that, its a zinc roof. It does look a bit bland but its meant to be a modern design. On the ground the roof is the one thing you never see so it doesn't get much of a fuss.

BUT seriously, it would take like 10 seconds to apply, and would looks soo much better.  If you could wait until I get home, I could get you a nice texture.

Very nice, the night lighting really adds to that IKEA feeling <ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/2.gif>, but you might want to move some of those windows around so it's not so symmetrical, just my humble opinion though<ahttps://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/5.gif>.

    Good Job

From the night view through the roof windows, it seems that your house has only one big room. Is it correct ?
Must not be really convenient when you need to go to the bathroom 9.gif

Apart from that, excellent work on the night view 24.gif24.gif. It really adds a lot to this house. Can't wait to see a whole neighborhood of growable houses of yours 2.gif

    One Canada Square, London

I started construction on One Canada Square today. Its the tallest building in the UK, standing at 235m. It was built from 1989 to 1991 and was the start of construction on the Canary Wharf District in London.

    <ahttp://www.skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=88&drawingID=20966 border=0>

I will make this building in 3 parts, starting with the base then the main body and then the roof.

Here is what I have done so far:

Ane here's what it really looks like:

I've heard that this building was in SC3K. Has anyone got any pics of it in game?

As requested, here's a photo of the One Canada Square in SC3KU.

    Thanks for that!

Here's the last update for today. I started on the main block and made the steel zig-zag cladding.

    /idealbb/files/onecanadasquarebase03.JPG

And here is a pic to show the scale of the building.

    /idealbb/files/onecanadasquarescale.JPGhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/onecanadasquarescale.JPG border=0>

The scale seems OK to me. What does everyone think?
