Ok so I've been downloading and reading and catching up and now I've moved up to getting maps.

Problem is I only see very old versions of Mapper and Terraformer from like 2005 to 2007.  I'm assuming these are the correct ones to use right?

Which one is better or should I get both???

By the way this site is CRAZY!  I wish I would have known about it years ago!

Mapper is a quickloading "light" subset of SC4Terraformer.. Mapper is only ok for certain very specific tasks and TF has a very wide set of capabilities both standard and customizable

I use Mapper becase it's quick and easy to use. I don't alter the original maps in any way, so I don't need the tools in Terraformer at all.

I use terraformer. It's the first terraforming tool I've been able to download. I'm also quite used to using it now.

Hello, All.

Let me add my $.02 to this thread.

I am a mapmaker and have been for a number of years. Hands down for me, SC4Terraformer is the best application there is for creating SimCity 4 maps. (Thank you, wouanagaine, for the excellent application.)

Bottom line is this: If all you are going to do is download SC4TF-created maps from the STEX, then SC4Mapper would be fine to use. If you are going to create your own maps or modify existing ones, then you really need to use SC4Terraformer.

Check out the Omnimaps section of the Omnibus for tutorials that use SC4Terraformer.

To answer PublicNudity's question (that usename has got-to-go...), the only place I am aware of where you can download SC4Mapper is on the SC4Devotion LEX. You do need to register in order to download from it.

Vandy
