I don't know what is wrong but all Maxis lots seem to be missing overlay textures

parking lots, paths, and other textures that are essential to eye candy seem to be all gone.

in LE, all the textures show up, but not in the game. Ive been playing since the game came out and nothing like this has ever happened.

Please help your fellow sepen20.

The first thing to check is usually the Graphic Settings. Less detail is shown at the lower settings. The second thing to check is any new additions to your plugins that could be causing conflics. If something has been recently added, try removing it to see if textures return. Let us know...

i think my problem is that my lot that i am working on is a large lot (4x4) and because there is so much on it the system is removing unessrcery textures to make it run smoothly

I tried to set the graphics level higher (city detail, texture detail) and nothing works. Some lots get really odd looking: Maxis passenger train station with no parking lot!

I can't get a picture right now because my other computer is away.

Also, the lots aren't all that big like small park lots don't have textures either

Have you placed anything new in your plugins recently? Several years ago I downloaded some parks (from the official site exchange, I think) and somehow they conflicted with existing files and caused a very similar thing.

You might try creating a new, empty Plugins folder (renaming your current one) and starting a new test city. Plop some lots to see how they appear (you don't need to save the test city).

    Just a thought...

It also looks like they do if you plop "texture" lots on top of the standard lots.. this is expanded on in this IMMORTAL LOTS (this is a LONG post and has MANY pics so takes a while to load. give it time 15.gif  ) thread.. do you find that they can be bulldozed without problems?  Kind of a long shot, but take a look if it isn't one of the above suggestions.

yea i have the same problem too...my parks dont have trees, low density houses dont have trees either, for me tho the problem came about when differrent types of industrial buidings and farm buildings(which are a lil bigger and nicer) showed up out of nowhere....i have differrent low density commercial too....and i never downloadeed anythin to get them...i got rid of all the buiding plugins and the only thing i got in the folder is: NAM, SC4update4BAT.exe, andUPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638.....and i still got the problem. once i learn how to put pictures up ill post them......

You don't put the update exe files in your plugin folders. You have to run the exe files to apply the update. Once you have done that check your game settings and make sure your city detail settings are on high.

I'm having the same problem with overlay textures. It is not my graphics detail. It only occurs after I install the SKU 2 update for my European edition of SC4 Deluxe. Probably something silly here, but I've removed every last trace of the game from Windows, re installed and the only difference between having textures and not is that update.

I know this didn't happen on a previous installation.

    As sam said:

Through the update, graphics details are re-set to "low".

Change them back to "high", exit the game, restart, and you are set.
