I've been playing this game off and on for maybe two years and getting frustrated with it and then I thought to look it up online one day and BAM found you guys.

My question is I have all of this technical stuff about NAM in the read me and installation file but I have no idea what half of it means because I have never used NAM before.  Since I've never installed it before what should I do?  Just click it and let it run or what should I do?

Welcome to ST. We hope you enjoy your stay.

Just run it with the automatic settings for the first time. It might not be the way to get the most out of it, but you'll get most of the main things with that. You'll get the GLR (Ground Level Rail. a tram system), HSRP (High Speed Rail Project, replaces monorail), and a whole slew of transit fixes and new transit puzzle pieces. After you've gotten the hang of it, try branching into NAM plugins, like the SAM (Street Addon Mod) or the RHW (Rural Highway Project). Good luck, and happy building!

While clicking through the the install program with the default settings is certainly one option and it will give you most of the items offered by the NAM, you might want to read through the basic information first. Using the default settings won't allow you to take advantage of the full range of options. Plus, trying to change the installation later might create other issues. Also, you can always ask any questions you might have in the NAM support thread to get help or advice. Just a thought...

There are also numerous tutorials on the NAM .. I'm not sure about in the OMNIBUS (here on ST.. see box at top of page ) I know there are things on elements of it.. Also there are quite a few "show and tell" tutorials on YOUTUBE.. you might search NAM there.. Plus as I recall there are tutorials on elements of it in the doc's that come with it (they are unpacked inside the NAM folders in the plugins folder)

I appreciate all of the input here but I may have been a tad bit off base with the question.

The whole first half of the tutorial and installation guide packed with NAM are about things that need to be taken out or turned off in order for NAM to work properly.  Almost all of it is about how to uninstall previous versions of NAM.  Since I don't have a previous version and this is my first time is there any of that I need to be careful about.

In other words will NAM just install smooth since this is my first time installing it or do I need to change some computer settings or something first?

When I installed NAM for the first time, it installed smoothly. Just look through all the options first so you can decide what you do or do not want. (left turn lanes...ect...) Simulator Z seems to be the most popular one. That's the one I like the best.

If your game is working fine without it, it should work fine with it..

If you look at the NAM folder, under the Documentation folder you will find a number (8-10) of image files that are mini-tutororials in several of the elements of the NAM
