Highways & Bridges - Bug ... ?

Spent the last 30 minutes trying to put in a damn Highway Bridge - as below.

You can see it is green and everything looks fine, about to connect it to the road below.

As soon as I try to connect, I get an 'Invalid Junction' message, as below.

There seems to be no way around this. 

I can complete the bridge without connecting it to the road. But as soon as I try to connect a new road to the completed bridge, I get the same 'Invalid Junction' Message.

I have demolished and rebuilt the bridge and the surrounding roads several times now (at considerable cost) - attempted different ways of joining, have completely flattened the land around there Nothing works - always results in the same error. 

It seems a bridge will ONLY connect to a junction, as you can see in my 1st pic above there is a crossover junction - the bridge has no problems connecting to that - it's just the plain highway it doesn't like.

Has anyone managed to build a Highway bridge, because this is REALLY annoying me now.

How do you build highways? For me the button is grayed out.

I've got the same problem and I haven't tried the interchange thing but it sucks if that's the only way. I'm just using expressways for now.

highways are the most impossible tool...

i suggest building in small pieces..

That is a bug and MC is aware of it.

try building half the bridge first then build the other half so it connect up to the other bridge, that work for me ounces or twice, although it doses take a bit of messing around.
