I am not hearing any ambient sound (wind, traffic, people, etc.).  The sound is working on my computer and, in the game, the music works and I hear clicking sounds on menus.  Is there ambient sound in the game??  (Yes, I checked the volume levels in game).

I never noticed that until you pointed it out, but my city has the same problem. It should have ambient noises and music, but it doesn't...

I'm not going to complain too much about the lack of ambient sound b/c I usually have music or Internet radio running in the background while playing SC4 and CXL but why no ambient sound? Seems like such a basic requirement for a city builder.

    Hi Guys,

No ambient sound in game at the moment but hopefully they will add at a later date. I thought I had a technical issue with sound early on so reported it to the support desk. This is the response I got

    Cheers

    Dear Nick,

first of all thanks for purchasing Cities XL.

The issue you are encountering is not a technical one, the environement sounds have not yet been implemented in game.

Feel free to come back to us for any other issue, doubt or simple remark you

    want to point out.

So, basically, we all have payed full price for a half finished product... This is a disturbing new trend that most game publishers appear to be using these days.

Would you go see a movie at the theatres that was missing most of its plot or its sound effects at release, and then having to wait 3 months to see it again, this time in its complete form?

Sounds like an investment, but without guaranties.... I'll wait a few months to buy the game.

There's still no ambient sound in the game. That's a bit of a bummer, makes the 500,000 inhabitant city somewhat dead

    Necromancy is bad, m'kay?

This issue has been resolved by putting the sounds from Ambient to Sounds.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11
