@azul_blue_aoi: Great pictures! You tram system looks nicely integrated and planned, with different lines going in different directions and such. You could use the Tram-in-road pieces instead of running the tracks parallel with the road all the time, but that's only a matter of taste.

@ROFLyoshi: How can I switch off the UDI icons? I thought there was a mod for it, but I haven't found it.

Considering the quality of instruction manuals, it's probably not even in there. Thanks from me too, I was actually wondering about that just a few days ago, but I only looked in the settings.

Yeah all these years of playing and those UDI icons really annoy me lol, I never knew how or even bothered to see how to turn it off. Also glad you liked the pictures. But I am going to check out the UDI option to turn it off.

@heitomat: I thought about doing all my tram systems on the road, but after doing the Teal Line in my city, it was a pain in the butt lol, so thats why I did the Red Line beside the road.

I used to have some of my own El-Rail over road in a CJ of in-game Chicago. But then I realized that the NHP Chicago region map I was using is inaccurate. So I junked it.

I'm still waiting for the NHP team to fix the Chicago region map so I can re-do it again.

I deleted all my screenshots. Oh well.

BTW, the Chicago L stations (like the one in TekindusT's screenshot) by Ardecila are very good. I highly recommend them if you're implementing El-Rail over road in your city.

I tried to lay down a tram system late last night... Is the tram tracks one of those pieces that I have to plop down one square at a time? Just wanted to make sure that I'm not doing it the "hard" way if there might be an easier way like the Sam roads or something. All your trams look so great, thanks for sharing.

You can plop each puzzle piece, or you could use the draggable pieces to draw the network by dragging it with the elevated rail tool.

Unfortunately there are certain items, such as tram-in-road, tram-on-road, tram-in-avenue, elevated rail over road, and certain glr intersections that you can only do with puzzle pieces

Just remember to save the game every time you get a section the way you want it. Nothing is worse than zooming out, and suddenly the game crashes on you, and you didn't save. I've had this happen, I almost rammed my head through the wall. 32.gif

The most common cause of CTD when working with GLR/Tram pieces is touching a transit-enabled road with a NAM piece. It is a very known bug and the way I avoid it is demolishing all the nearby transit-enabled roads (like stations or enabled buildings) and then, working with NAM pieces. Finally, plopping all stations you've demolished and plopping the new network stations.

Saving often is highly advised, though.

If you type in "historic streetcar" into google image search, the following image from my CJ appears:

well, basically it's Lot Editing, I re-created the Tram-In-Road textures, so that they would match my custom sidewalk mod, then I created the lot and made it so that it would stand over the other rail, (which is going to be something similar to the S-Bahn), then, after getting that in-game, I transit-enabled it. Basically saying, it is functional eye-candy that can be driven on. for more information on lot editing I link you to this pages:

Some recent GLR work.  I like this alternative with the built-in side-rails--seems a bit more realistic.  A lot of this replaced el-rail, which seemed a little unrealistic for a city of only 250,000.

Tram in avenue for the government district.  The diagonal GLR to the left is entirely bordered with railing for safety.

GLR running next to a plaza next to the riverwalk--accessible by that 'alley' ending at the station.
