Is anyone else having a problem downloading game updates? It lets me log in, goes to install updates but then stops and has "Download Failed' in the corner of the screen.

Also when trying to register my key on the website it won't let me and just comes up with an error.

Anyone have similar problems?

Oh and my OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

The update and register server could be down or not up yet.

I am having the same problem, but don't believe it is acceptable that this should be the case. If MC have chosen to activate the game in this fashion then at the very least they should ensure that it works correctly.

It's still happening now! Gosh, you can't even play the solo version without checking for updates! That isn't good.

I'm also annoyed because I was going to try the Planet Offer, but I bet all the best spots have been taken so I don't think I will bother now >_<

I'm likewise getting connection failed problems.

I did get a message saying 'Servers down for maintennance' on the app splash screen, but only sporadically.

Can't believe you can't even play the single game without downloading the update, that's just poor.

I had a bad experience with City Life 2008, which I purchased but was never able to get working - Monte Cristo support couldn't help. Already beginning to regret buying this when they take their servers down on release day

Yeah, it looks like they are having a few server issues. Just be patient and keep trying. Most MMOs have these issues out of the gate, some have even worse issues. They will get them worked out soon I'm sure.

Hmm, although my problem isn't solved, if you disconnect yourself from the net the popup/login screen says 'play offline'.

EDIT: CAN'T CLICK ACTUALLY PLAY THOUGH, JUST VIEW TUTORIALS :--/ GUESS IT NEEDS ACTIVATING.

i have a smilar problem, it keeps saying that i need a new update, then it skips that step and wants to install the next update, then the next again and again. till it hits 267 and just closes down...

i finally got the program downloaded and now I can't log on.  This game is quite frustrating so far. keep starting the download and eventually you will have all three files.

Its been 36 hours and I have not received my registration confirmation email and when I try to log in it says "account not recognized". When I try to re-register, I get a "awaiting user validation" error. I had my wife register as well and she has not received her registration confirmation email either. Its frustrating because I can't get the update and play the game! Anyone else having the same registration issue? I sent an email to the Monte Carlo help line but they have been of no help.

Mine still says download failed after I try logging in.

The on-sit rite key registration still stay "Your request can not be granted at the moment due to a system error" :-(

OK I managed a work-around! I had to register again on the popup/login screen with a new username. Wait for an e-mail then activate my new account with my key. The downloads are working now. Let's hope it plays :-)

UPDATE: IT IS LETTING ME PLAY :-D

thank you very much. That worked and I have registered but I can't seem to figure out how to get the game started. What did you do after you successfully registered?

Open it from your program files, or maybe try putting the disc try playing it via the autorun function.
