     Downtown and Background

Ok so my computer has decided that it hates me.  It kept crashing simcity when I ran it.  Turns out I had a virus in one of the plugins and it was infecting the simcity files.....any way its update time...haven't gotten very far though. And Its time for some background on the downtown region.

    First Pictures.

    Dowwnton.jpg

Welcome to Kurkova.  This is the northern Capital of the state of  Rovert.

Sim Nation is a coalition of several provinces untied in a pursuit to abolish the free lance terrorists that plague the rest of the planet.  In The Northeastern Corner of Sim Nation is a province which has been plagued by terrorists since the begining of the modern era.  This province is Rovert.  Under the leadership of Gregory Carine, the province signed a pact with the rest of Sim Nation to fight the war on terrorism.  The Northern Region Flourished after Sim Nation's Armies had set up defenses along the La-Voie Plains, where most of the terrorists had gained entry into the country.  However A major City in the south, Malina, was invaded by something previously unseen before, a untied army of terrorists.  The South was destroyed and the city fell to the hands of the terrorists.

Several years have gone by since the Capture of Malina and the war torn city of Kurkova had risen back onto its feet.

However....shortly after Gregory Carine resigned from the throne, a message came forth from Malina.  It simply stated:

    Be ready your guns.

Several areas of the city have now been thoroughly searched.

    The Headquarters of the government.

    Station.jpgStation.jpg

The Central Station Where all rail lines converge.

    Tower.jpg

And Finally the tallest tower in the city.

Well here is a little insight into the background of This City.  I hope you enjoyed.

o.O Over so suddenly? So wait...how come you lost the region? You had the option of choosing "not" to delete your cities in the uninstall wizard.

If the region really was deleted from your computer, then I'm very sorry to hear that, this CJ had much potential.

Well so many people's games crash, mine can't stop freezing. Maybe it's the computer or the graphics cards or the RAM boards or the game is just faulty. I'm not sure, but i do know that SimCity4 is an amazing game that has a curse with it. lol However one of my friend's on here bought a Toshiba laptop and says his game now works without any complications on the highest settings. So I'm not sure what's wrong when it comes to the game crashing or freezing.

Sad sad news there, but with your evident skills, you should at least have another go at a CJ, even if it seems that a lot of hard work has gone to waste.

    Malina Teaser

The City I began building, Kurkova, was a complete loss unfortunately.  However I can't let this cj go to waste. I mentioned another city, Malina, in my previous post that had been captured by an army of terrorists.  This is where the cj will now take place.  However it will be set in a time prior to the invasion.

The city of Malina will cover great stretches of land populated by farms and villages, dotted by large towns and suburbs,

A preview of the swampy land on which Malina was built is here for you now.

    OUTSKIRTSTEASER.jpg

Each section of Malina will be carefully constructed and beautifully detailed and i will try and incorporate a story line in as well.

This is just a teaser and I will have a completed town for you as soon as I can.

    * Crosses fingers that the new disc will stop the game from crashing *

     Argok- The River City

    Welcome to Argok.....

    Angoroverveiw.jpg

The small town of Argok was one of the first built on the swamps outside of Malina.  It's narrow and twisting canals are densely populated by wildlife which supports the local economy of the town.  The moist and nutrient rich soil also creates ideal conditions for farming which employs approximately 2,000 of Argok's 6,000 residents.

Because of the harsh conditions of living in a war torn country modern roads have not been constructed in Argok;however the residents do not see this a is a hindrance as most residents own fishing boats which allow them to easily move throughout the town and even in to Manila's downtown district.

Docks and piers have been built as both retaining walls for the loose soil as well as for residents to more up ( i think thats what its called ) there boats.

A section of the largest neighborhood

    Angorwaterhomes.jpg

Just north of this neighborhood is a branch of  one of the main rivers which feeds into the swampland.

    Angordelta.jpg

The river brings in thousands of gallons of fresh water, most of which ends up in the wettest part of the Argok.

    AngorNorthSwamps.jpg

The land in this area of town is incredibly saturated, most of it a thick mud several feet deep.  Because of this the governor of the region of Malina sold this area of land for anyone who would want it for 25 cents per square foot.  Unfortunately small parts of this land was bought by a coruppt business man who saw it as a wonderful spot to build his factories and discreetly dump the chemical runoffs into the swamp.  As we move down to the bottom of the swamp we can see the lush vegetation give way to dead and dying plants and trees due to the factories pollutants.

    AngorSouthSwamps.jpg

Because of this sections of the town have abandoned.

    AngorHill.jpg

The fish population in the area of the factory are now non existent and the local economy has take a big hit.  The government of Malina wonders if it will recover, or if they will be left in possession of even more homes as the family's leave Argok in search of places to work.

    Comments are welcome 9.gif

Thanx for reading...or just looking at the pics...whichever.

    Pongor - The Stone Island

    Welcome to Pongor...

    Pongoroverveiw.jpg

The heart of the towns of Pongor is located on the far east side of the map.  It was built originaly as a safe haven for the Nobel's who ruled the countryside in the 1500's.  It was the perfect location for them to hide during war time.  It was built on flat provincial land where any approaching threat could be easily detected.  The muddy land and rivers would significantly slow any advances upon the town.  Any attempt the attacking armies made to sail up river was suicide at best, the nobels private guards would stand on the islands bridges and fire arrows covered in oil and lit on fire at any man who would attempt to float up river.  The  Stone Island was named as such because it was nearly impossible to break like the stone from which it was crafted.

The island was well mainly supplied by Argok and still is.  Back in those times the ground was so saturated that nothing would grow there.  However in the 1600's a project began that would drain the majority of the swamps.  It took nearly 60 years to create a drainage canal of this size to bring water from the swamps to the delta in Malina.  However the influx of jobs caused residents to move to Pongor as the swamps drained.  It became one of the most successful engineering projects of the countries history.

A small section of the drainage Canal...

    Pongordrainage.jpg

And Finally an overview of the the small but mighty stronghold that was the beginning of an economic boom in the swamplands.

    Pongormosiac1.jpg

    Pongormosiac2.jpg

    Pongormosiac3.jpg

    Pongormosiac4-1.jpg

....the annoying white line......grrr.....it ruined my picture

    Comments are welcome.

    Thanx for reading.

    Argok Invasion

The still morning air was broken by the sounds of screams as tanks rolled through the swamps of Argok.

    Argokfire3.jpg

They left flames in their wake as the captured hundreds of men, women and children.  They pillaged the city and burned the homes of any who resisted their brute force.

    Argokfire2.jpg

There last act of terror was to destroy the factories that had been polluting the swamps.

The remaining population was held hostage in the abandoned houses just west of the factories.

The terrorists claimed the city as there own.  They demanded that the government remained outside of the city or else they would begin to execute the hostages.

The government obeyed there requests and sent troops to occupy Pongor and other towns around Argok.

A statement from the terrorists was released seven days after the capture of Argok.

This is only the beginning..... no force you can assemble will be able to stop us. We will not stop until we have cleansed the waters which you have so willingly polluted.
