As I am laying out am farming towns and distics, the building always start off as a 1x1 tile building and the rest is either fields of trees or grains.

Over time, I would start to expect the buildings to change and become bigger with grain mills, etc. But they don't. They always stay the same. Maybe i'm too impatient. Would this be my error.

PS. What farming mod changes the look of the patures to be more realistic?

i wish i knew y, but i'm guessing farms just cant 'regrow'. the only way to get larger farms is probably destroying the original one after you get a higher demand or population

What grows is totally random I think. You just have to use the bulldozer tool to delete all of the farm, building and pastures, to start over with the land already zoned. Then just hope that what you want grows or try again. I find that if you want big grain mills and such to grow, you need to zone smaller areas. But not too small or they wont have room to grow. Maybe try changing the building styles for more diverstiy in what grows.

As far as I know, farms do not redevelop. Once grown, only deleting them will cause a new one to grow in it's place.

To make more realistic pastures, just search the Stex for farms. If you want, I have some farms shown on the 3rd page of my City Journal, (link in my signature). If your looking for those kind of farms, I think I found those on another site, but could give you a link.

Hope that Helps!

Some farm buildings are bigger than others, but yes - they won't redevelop on their own, as far as I can tell. I rarely zone farms in any case, so I never really have a problem with them and them not redeveloping.
