Fire plane continually on call. Whats going on?

Hey everybody,

Im not too worried about this as it doesn't really affect city building,but anyway...

my fire plane had been sent to a fire, but the fire is out but the disaster stick thing calling the plane is still there. If i quit to region and then load it back up the plane is back on the tarmac taxiing and the stick thing still there.

Anyone know if you can call them off or something?

That's a longstanding bug in the game.. just ignore it.. or exit and re-enter the city

My experience was that if I ever dispatched the fire plane it never landed, I had to bulldoze the landing strip to get rid of it.

Same here. I think it just stays in the air forever and can still be dispatched to a new fire.

It happened to me, too. Since I realized the fire plane never finished his flight, I have never dispatched it again, although I keep placing the landing strip on my cities.

The landing strip is handy for coving a large area for fire, and I use it now and then.. but as a city grows its easy enough to wipe it and replace with normal stations

I quit using it because of these problems. Too much of a nuisance. Now I just put in regular stations. I may build it so my nephew can do the UDI's but after he's gone I bulldoze it.

If you redirect the plane on a empty spot or a street (something which is "not zone"), or even on the landing strip itself, it should return the base after a while. I noticed it happens especially when you send the plane over a landmark or a reward.

I"ve never had to dispatch it unless I was just goofing around... I just don't have fires as I give nominal coverage for fire fairly early in the game and continue as I expand. For that reason it just isn't an issue with me. I think I've had like 5 fires in 7 or so years of playing.. hehe.. There is a UDI thing where you are supposed to dispatch it.. Its been years since I've done that.. if ever.. I forget if that caused the issue or not. That may have been how I first came across it.

That plane drives me bonkers so I bulldoze it after I use it and replace it. It costs me a butt load of money but in the end, it's worth it. This is why i no longer use deluxe police stations or fire fields because they are annoying!

Try placing the dispatch paddle back on the fire landing strip and the plane will land

I just take over the plane via the UDI menu and land it manually, 5 years experience in flight simulators really comes in handy here!
