Normally, a new page is started for every 30 posts in a thread. However, there is a bug where sometimes a new page will not be created when it is needed, causing the first post (or several) on a new page to not be visible until enough posts have been made to kick a new page into being created. This is caused by people deleting their posts.

This thread in particular has a page flip bug worth one post. So, while normally, this page should have been made as soon as my post above was made, it wasn't until you made yours. Naturally, this has the potential to make people mess their numbers up if they're not aware of it or forget, hence the warnings.

One more note: there is a way to view posts on not yet "flipped" pages: see where it says "STARTPAGE={some number}" in the URL? Add 1 to the number on what appears to be the last page.

Exactly. Compare German "Ja" with English "Yes". They begin with the same sound.

I am back from camp.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I don't really have anything to say, but I did find this:

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I heard Abe Lincoln had a high pitched voice. I wonder if that was true.

7067. If he got frequent kicks in the groin, then it could be true. But that doesn't say anything about his natural voice, and I somehow doubt recordings of one of his speeches survived over the years. A quick search on youtube yields nothing.

Abraham Lincoln had a nasal voice. Theodore Roosevelt also apparently had a higher voice than one would expect.

7070. Nelson, how did that information survive passed the years, without proof? If it is just oral tradition, then changes are the information is exaggerated.

It's been less than 150 years since Lincoln was assassinated, and Roosevelt's younger than that. The phonograph was invented in 1877, and Roosevelt lived well into the 20th century.

Voice recording of Theodore Roosevelt:

As for Lincoln, he was before the time of practical voice recording, dying some 12 years before the phonograph was invented. However, William Henderson (his law partner) described his voice as "shrill, squeaking, piping, [and] unpleasant", and Abram Bergen, who knew him when they were lawyers together described it as "high keyed, [and] unpleasant".

A strange concept to me. I still have the same email address on my account that I registered with seven years ago.
