Music today is way better than that of the 20th century! Viva 21st century! Pop will overturn rock and we will rule the Earth! Bwahhhaa!

3579. In terms of music, in my view 17th Century=18th Century=19th Century>20th Century>21st Century.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Neither I nor any one I knew had a Saturn, as far as I can remember. I don't think I've ever seen one firsthand! 6.gif

It never really seemed to be popular, at all. In that era you'd hear all about the Playstation and the N64, but not the Saturn. Sega always seemed to be the lesser stepchild of the console industry. So you can understand why they dropped out of it.

3587. There are a few good songs out there, but mostly it seems that if you can play loudly and lack an ability to speak coherently you are qualified to be a musician.

The cd player in my car has been useless for about 3 years, so I always listen to the radio while driving. Usually it's 102.5 WDVE (Pittsburgh, PA). The thing that bothers me is, yes, the repetition. At least once a day I hear a track from Pearl Jam's Ten. Other songs that get played nearly everyday...

Alice Cooper - School's Out

Bob Seger - Turn The Page

Foo Fighters - I'll Stick Around   (? Maybe it's called something else.)

I'm sick of all those songs, and I never liked Bob Seger to begin with.

The problem, really, is that technology has enabled Hollywood to "manufacture" stars. Sing a note off-key when recording? No problem, we can digitially fix it. Can't sing decently and perform on stage at the same time? We'll have you just lipsynch.

As a result, the criteria for being big have shifted from needing to have talent to needing to have good looks. It's about the posters and the magazine covers, now.

Well, and then there's the rap factor. As it got bigger, it's got worse. Rap jumped the shark a few years ago. "Ridin'" really should have been its "Funkytown", if you ask me. But unlike disco, which went quietly when its time was up, rap persists.

At any rate, the quality of mainstream music in general has noticably declined over the last decade.

3590.The odd thing about that is that the Saturn was for more superior to those other systems, graphic wise they were far better. Oddly i can stick a sega game into my computer or any radio and it plays the games music. The Saturn was also the first console that could play music and have a control panel with system software as far as i know, it also had alot of built in memory. Sega has always been one step ahead as far as i'm concerned.

3592. Ah, music. Modernday music is generally crap IMO, though there are some good songs to be found, if you look really hard. And then I mean really, really hard.

The thing is, when it comes to electronic gadgets, the best man doesn't necessarily win.

The Saturn was popular enough in Japan, but it flopped in the US, and three key things contributed to that:

1) It was released at a higher price. Same thing that would later hurt PS3 sales.

2) Many of its most popular games from Japan never were localized, so the game library (he single most important factor in any console's success) wasn't that great

3) Sega decided to pull a surprise limited early release, which, while it seemed like a good idea in theory, tunred out to be a horrible one. It meant that for the first few months, the console had almost no games available for it. And it pissed off all the retailers who weren't included in the early release, some of whom would then, in retalliation, refuse to sell it or games for it once the full release came around.

3598. You know, I've never owned any games console other than a yellow Game Boy Color.

It still works, but now my sister owns it.

3560. 3600. I've also owned a N64, ps1, 2, and 3. I never really like the Nintendo gamecube, Xbox, or xbox 360 as much. I know other people would argue the other way, but I just like my playstation better.
