Cities XL Demo - Crashing for me - Anyone Else?

Hey everyone,

Finally got in to demo Cities XL, so far I'm not to pleased with the game due to two crashes I've had. The game without warning just crashes. I really want to dig into this game a bit more, but the auto save feature sucks because it saves roughly every 5 - 10 minutes? I strongly believe this game should have an adjustable save feature so you can actually tell it how often to save if crashing is a "regular" thing (which is shouldn't be!). So far I must say this game isn't too impressive but it's still a bit early for me to make a complete judgement.

Let me hear some feedback on your crashes? Views of the game?

Peace

Yeah I'm not impressed either I can't even install the demo. Consider yourself lucky you got to see it at all. This for me is a no buyer I have no issue installing and using any other program on my PC but Cities XL doesn't even install.

Don't think I'll ever get it.

I wonder how many people just gave up instead of coming to the forums (not even their forums) to find a fix.

Shockingly bad game.

I migrated here from the old CXL site. (I had a existing account), But CXL is doomed. I am disappointed from my late beta experiences, I'm not even on the CXL forums much.

And for Cristari.. try run the install exe as a administrator when u rightclick on the exe file for installation that might help.

Hi, I try to install demo on XP, but it's in bad condition! Installation - succesful, registration on cities web - OK, but when I like to play, I have signal/question - invalid login or password, and again and again..... I think that CXLdemo we can throw out as quick as possible...

If the game will be in the same condition....

As far as saving is concerned, you can save when ever you want. Just pretend like your about to quit, it will save on the spot, and when it asked "are you sure you want to quit", just click cancel.

Ya it doesn't seem to have good performance with 64 bit, which is sad since thats what pretty much everyone is on or upgrading to.

Server 2008 R2: DEP kicks in and closes it-disabling DEP makes it hand an refuse to load

Server 2008 R1: hangs on load and then crashes. 2nd load it works but then crashes half and hour later. Still intermittent problems

all on x64 platform with quad core AMD Phenom x4 and Nvidia 8800GT and 4GB RAM

Yeah, I cant install it on my Windows Vista 64-bit, but they are working to figure out what the problem is through costumer service. I bought the full version game without trying out the demo, so im stuck with it not working, I was so excited to try it. The game could be crashing because your specs are too low? But if you are running 64-bit then you probably don't have low specs right? Is there anyway to change the bit-rate to 32-bit?

Man, i too purchased the digital version of the game. Had problems downloading the 3 files to begin with, however using the download manager , i downloaded the files successfuly. The installation itself was very easy too and flawless, the game was installed successfuly too. But I cant start the game now. It's given 3 different error messages. I have forwarded them onto the support team but I dont have a lot of faith. I am so bummed.

My demo won't install either, not even getting any error messages. The install went normally but once it was over and i hit "Finish"......nothing, nothing in my start menu, nothing in programs folder.....NOTHING!!! Whne i clicked on the CitiesXLDemo.exe(the original install file) it said "Unpacking Files: N%" once it hit 100% it just went back to desktop and nothing happens again. Did anyone else experience this or is it somehting to do with my system? I tried downloading the demo so i could see if my system could support it, then i would buy it........if i can't even get any sort of response from the install.....it's not looking like Monte Cristo is gettign any of my cash.
