Well none of us are alone, apparently thousands of people are having all of there games crashing when running on Win7, name it and its crashed on Win7, so much for a better windows, hopefully they get a patch out and it'll be fixed until then were all in the same boat, screwed, by Microsoft again.
-
I've been having the same problem, since I've updated to Win7 i've been getting BSOD within 5 mins of playing, didnt crash as much with XP and i never got a BSOD, i've got a E6850 and a 8800 Ultra too as the first poster. Running benchmarks and Prime95 without problems but i''m going to install another game GTA4 to see if it has problems, will report in a few. It does have to be said that simply going to Win7 improved preformance at least 10fps better then XP but at the price of these BSOD may not be worth it.

Yep, pre-ordered, even with the bugs i'm going to give them a chance, at least someones trying to make a new city building game, Simcity looks ackward now especially on wide screen no new res-options. The digital download was $39.99. no tax, no s/h, and planet offer is $6 if you go for the 3 month, so $40 + $6 x 12 = $112 not $151 for the first year and $72 for the following year Not to mention I will probably be playing this game as least 18 hours a week so 18 x 52 = 936 hours, $151/936. thats 16 cents an hour for the first year and 7 cents for the next year. I get paid 200 times more then that at work so i think its worth it, especially for new content support etc.

Found a cool perspective for screenshots, zoom all the way in and move into a building, the camera will shoot to the top/roof of the building and you can look around as if you were on top of the skyscraper looking around. Probably not new but I like it. [Resized images to 800x600 - abcvs]

Thanks for the response MC. Got another one, sometime when you zoom in all the way the screen blacks out, you can still see the UI, but you have to go mad with the mouse and the controls to get the image back.
-
Got another, I don't think its a bug but a flaw in the engineering of the game. Alright when you adjust the height of a bridge the mouse and the edge of the road do not stay in synch so once you change the height the pointer is lower then the edge of the road and when you click it places the road where the pointer is and not where is was with the height change, a bit annoying when you finally have the road right where you want it and it jumps some where completely wrong.

Image dimensions must remain within 800x600

Retaining walls? [ Resized image - max for ST is 800x600... also that is a Sim City 4 screen shot not CXL.]

Alright I agree with a few of you but disagree with a lot of you, I played SC4 since it came out and I loved it, still do, but its still 6 years old, just Windos XP, I havent caved in to Vista but it looks like I will to 7, CXL is, and I know most of you will explode now, a better game. Heres why: It is more realistic, last time i drove around I didnt go on 90 degree or 45 degree roads I went on long swooping curves and not so perfectly perpendicular intersections. Home and business lots are square and they do have funky gaps between them where they let the vegetation take over. Mayors of real cities do have to be very in depth in how their city grows, a business asks for a permit you have to approve it or not. You want to wide a street you have to use public domain and destroy peoples homes to do it. Water, and all resources for that matter, is limited look at the south's water war or California's watershed management problems. Last time I check were did we get most of our oil from, trade! Even though the trade system isn't perfect neither is real life. Traffic is based on time I take the route that quickest to get to work not the shortest, if you build an avenue from the back of your city to the front but you already have a real short avenue but heavily congested up front the peeps will take the longer but FASTER way, something in real life, the highway may be shorter but the back roads are faster when theres a 14 car pileup on the highway. Stats on roads is there if you use your brain at all. The road tools says it handles 80 cars/minutes. When the lights red its obviously above 80 cars/minutes. In a real school system you don't adjust costs per school you do it for the whole system, school systems are poor cause the whole city is poor. in CXL you can choose what house goes up where with the toggle random growth or choose individual models option in the options menu, so your rural town can look rural. Now back to the original post, the biggest failure are all the bugs which i started a thread about and massive computer resource hog the game is at mentioned before, that said this game is still a great leap forward, you people will realize that in 6 years time when the next city sim comes out and you'll be saying "Na, man CXL is way better i'll never switch"

As the main Cities XL site says there staff will be watching over forums likes this to see how they can improve the game as much as possible to there abilities so I'd want to list a few bugs that ruin the game play experience and I urge everyone to list there own even if its already mentioned. Before I list the bugs I have to say I'm loving this game so far, absolutely love it, I'm very impressed with all the little additions that you simply can not find in other city building games, I want this game to prosper but something has to be done with these bugs, and the crashing issues in other threads to makes this game profitable. But now for the little things: The controls are very clumsy, sometimes commands to lay a zone down are not communicated and I have to start over laying that zone down for it to work. Or it wont work if i start at this corner but it will if i start from another corner, very frustrating. Or making a park, all the boxes are green and it says click to confirm, I have to furiously click my mouse for it to accept, not always but it happens it very annoying. The noise that buttons make when you click on them is the most infuriating thing in the world, especially when you click buttons millions of times in a game, so i just turned it off after the first 6 clicks, but it should have never made in the game to begin with. Now i am very impressed with the ability to raise roads at will and put them over other roads without having to connect them but to actually accomplish this takes the Blue Gene/L, because when you enter that mode it destroys the frame rate even for a small bridges. Trying to lay down roads or especially bridges at 15 fps is very aggravating Finally tunnel entrance rending has completely failed, because it doesn't render an opening at all, the road just goes straight into the rock face and disappears. Now, I built my computer two years ago so i know its not a super computer, anymore, but its still above average for consumer computers this days and things like these bugs, and other performance issues, really narrow the marketability for this game making you (the makers) less money, so you have to fix the problems asap, please, I already pre-ordered the game for digital download and I'd like to be able to tell people "its a great game" and not "its a great game, if like punching holes in your walls"

As far as saving is concerned, you can save when ever you want. Just pretend like your about to quit, it will save on the spot, and when it asked "are you sure you want to quit", just click cancel.
