How long should a STEX download take?

I was wondering about how long it should take to download a file from the STEX, because it is taking a really long time for me and I want to know if i'm doing something wrong. Thanks

You're probably not doing anything wrong. It just takes a while dpending on the time of day and the 'traffic' on the site. I've gotten download speeds ranging from a few kbits per second up to around 150. Just keep trying is the only advice. Good luck...

Another thing to do when its downloading very slow and then it stops and you keep looking at it waiting for it to start up again is to hit the pause button on and off. This starts it up again.Some of the times (most of the times) when its going very glow and stopping I will hit the pause button quite a few times to get the download completed.

yeah, I mean it also depends on the size, that airport thing took me 45 minutes for the first part alone, and some smaller ones like my little Michilan that was only a park really, took less than a second, it also depends on what you have, high speed internet, DSL, so its different everytime, and what everyone else said.

I have high-speed interenet [5mb] and it dl's at a 6kb/sec clip during daylight hours [or high peak hours] and speeds up late at night when hardly anyone is on the site.

time varies for downloads at maximum for me it takes 10 minute, depends on the size of the stex you're downloading

It's just because of the high load on the server. You're gonna have to deal with it or donate!

The STEX requires a tremendous amount of bandwidth. Bandwidth is very expensive. Dirk (The webmaster) Has to pay out of his own pocket, (And some of the donation money) for bandwidth every month. Sometimes he doesn't have the funds to do so, and we hit a ceiling. Sometimes downloading at night helps, when traffic isn't so high.
