What is the plugin manager and how does it work ?

When I click download, nothing happens. Any Ideas?

Come to think of it, could someone just give me a detailed instruction on how to download things from this site.

btw, i think my main problem is that nothing happens when i click the download button.

Thanks.

Well, i can't help you with the plugins manager, but if you want to download anything from the STEX, you need to unzip the files into MyDocs/Simcity4/plugins unless otherwise instructed. For some, you will then have to run an installer program that is included in the zip file. As a side note, look out for dependencies for various lots; you need to download these to ensure proper functionality.

The plugin manager allows you to modify some of the properties that define lots such as plop cost and name. You can find more information on the Plugin manager and related programs in the Omnibus.

When you click download, what browser are you using? If you aren't using firefox, use it, or internet explorer 7+. The site is not optimized for any other browsers.

I created a guide to the STEX which you can see here ===> https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=148&threadid=103296&enterthread=y

I'm using Internet Explorer but i don't know if it is 7+. But, i have managed to download a few things, so i guess it is. However, i read your guide and saw the thing about how when you download something you save it to the plugins folder. I had to do that once, but the other times, a window has popped up wth all of the necessary files in it and i just put the files into a folder in my plugins folder. However, most of the time that i cick on download, the little window doesn't come up (or anything else). I've waited about 3 minutes for something to come up, should i wait longer? When i click download,a thing pops up on my tool bar that says Connecting and at the bottom toolbar somethingcomes up that says "downloading(the name of the file) from simtropolis.com" or something like that. Eventually the thing at the bottom changes to say "Done", or sometimes "done, but with errors on page". However, he thing at the top still says Connecting, so i waited a little longer, but nothing happened. I'm afraid i need more help.

Thanks for the help guys, but unfortunately i need more. 4.gif

@Northsider -- I have a feeling that you aren't doing anything wrong.  The problem sounds like the STEX is just really, really slow today.  I've downloaded a couple things and it took forever.  I'm using Firefox 3.0.12.  Sometimes a download manager helps speed things up.  I use the open source Free Download Manager, a program similar in appearance and function to the popular Orbit Downloader, which is also free, but not open source.  Websites for each product contain links to tutorials about how to use them with a variety of downloadable media, and a forum for support issues.

The Plugin Manager is installed as you install the SC4BAT, which is installed after gMax is installed.  It is used to classify the models you create in the gMax/BAT.

There is also a blank model you can download; I use it (with the Lot Editor) to make my own parks, sometimes with extreme mayor rating, demand, or anti-pollution effects. The Plugin Manager really handy and easy to use.
