    Welcome To Downtown Crystal Junction!

I know a lot of you have been waiting for months now as I slowly developed this regional like a real life growing city. Well now the time as come to show you the young and developing Crystal Junction Skyline, and all its newest skyscrapers.

The City is now at a size of about 425,000, large enough that it has an extensive amount of development in downtown, and the surronding area, including the construction of new towers, many new multi-story apartment buildings, new factories, avenues, and parks.

Many floks must be loving the region a lot. BTW, those radio towers remind me alot of the mountainous hills that have radio towers in Peru.

There are no plans for a subway system to be installed, and with the way the topography of the city is, it will probably be impractical since there would be no way to link the south and the north sides of the city. But an elevated rail is a possiblity, and there will be a monorail system set up since all the major cities will be linked by monorail.

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

It's been a while since I've checked out this journal... looks like it's going well, too!

If you ever get stuck for ideas (which I highly doubt) feel free to borrow any ideas from my journal (Ocean Shores/Beach Region).

    Keep up the great work!

You could have a subway system in the north and south sides of the city, then then elevated train link the two together....

In my San Diego region I actually use train to link 4 different subway systems.  (Well, two of them got so big they merged, so it's down to 3)

Anyway, it works pretty well, sims seem quite willing to switch transit methods if you make it nice and easy.  Plus it'd reduce the amount of monorail you might need to run.  (Just run it between cities, and let the subways feed it.)

Edited to add that busses work too, but they're not nearly as fast or cool.  19.gif

    City Update 20:

Crystal Junction is now a moderate sized city with just over one half million residents. Downtown is started to quickly grow upward with a definte skyline already developing. Urban srpawl outward continues, even though now it is now more growing outward evenly in all directions. Downtown is where the largest population growth is now centered. Possible plans to extend Freeway 248 are in the works, as well as developing more high density commercial construction in downtown, as well as Sandy Ridge starting to grow as well. Crystal Junction is about one quater complete now.

You should make a full highway loop around the city, and maybe 1 or 2 more freeways to connect to it.1.gif
