Sandy Ridge Update 1 (Small Town):

Today the town of Sandy Ridge was founded on the south cliffs of the Upper Crystal Canyon. Sandy Ridge is a small quiet peaceful town located at the junctions of Freeway 11, and routes 511 and 70. This town has about 2,300 hundred people living in it. Residents founded Sandy Ridge to get away from the rapidly growing hastle of Crystal Junction. The town is realtivly close to crystal junction, about a 25 minute drive from west downtown.

Looks nice.  The desert terrain is a nice touch.  They sure are nice looking cities.

I just thought I'd add a map of Crystal Junction to my post. This way when I am trying to describe where everything is located, such as Regional Highways you know where they all are.

Well, it looks like my vote will make it a tie again. Proposal 2!

Anyway, the region looks really nice, especially with the terrain mods. Keep up the good work!

I like the region, but I don't like the desert terrain with the city look.

I just popped into your city, and I must say WOW! You are doing an incredibly detailed and good job on describing your city (region's) growth. I think I would go for plan 3, but let the largest or first businesses stand as small local landmarks. Ofcourse not everyone wants to move their businesses. I live in a town of almost the same size, and the counsil has talked about constructing a mall here for 20 (!!) years. It's finally here, but one house owner did'nt want to move for construction, so the mall was built around it! I can imagine this kind of stuff happening in your town.

I think I'd go with proposal three.  Good to clean up the downtown for future growth before any large buildings develop.  The black and white images are pretty cool.

If you want to go for realism, (not that you have to) #3 wouldn't work. A city wouldn't move their city hall, hospital and other municipal structures for reconstruction. But, I will admit, the growth would be wonderful with wide avenues dotted with transit. But, I wonder how the Chronicle will report the loss of 2000+ jobs...lol I'm not one to criticize, (I've completely changed some of my cities 1.gif ) so good luck with whatever Downtown's future may hold! Whatever you do, don't let Wal-Mart set up shop in the new downtown...

Well everyone I have finished taking the votes in. The results are as follows.

    Proposal 1: 0 Votes
    Proposal 2: 4 Votes
    Proposal 3: 6 Votes

Looks like proposal number 3 it is. As you noted the extra vote I added was for myself. I voted for proposal number 2, but anyway, the downtown reconstruction will be added in the next update. Grrrr too many projects, didnt get arround to working on my city all day yesterday, oh well update today, hopefully. (Sharky swims in circles with frustration lol).

    New Update Soon.

Well, I would have voted proposal 2, but do whatever you want...
Crystal Junction is now a very nice small town... Traffic seems to be a problem for such a small city (many upgrades have been needed!)! Toll booths can help to regulate traffic, by placing them in overcrowded roads. The sims will use the closest road instead, but a few will still pass through the toll booth. It's a good idea if you have an overused road next to an avenue.

I went ahead and added your vote to the list. Luckily I havent started work on it yet.

    Proposal 1: 0 votes
    Proposal 2: 5 votes
    Proposal 3: 6 votes

    Answers to questions.

I got the black and white photos by using Paint Shop Pro Version 8.1. The pics are actually black yellow and white. I did a hue saturation modifcation on the pics, which basically converts to the pics to black and white with a yellow tint to them. This gives the appearnce of a more aged pic.

Congratulations! At first, I was skeptikal to Proposal #3. But you sure pulled it off, and I can't wait to see the results. Great Job! I'm glad that a few historic structures were left, it made the whole thing seem more probable. And BTW, why does the Chronicles cost 40 cents now? It used to be 35, right?

It only costed 40 cents that time because it was a special edition. Normal edition is still 35 cents.

    Thanks for the compliments guys.
