This is a beautiful CJ. See the bridge in the canyon ? couldn't it be done but from the top of it, i mean from residential part to the industrious part without going down, and then passing over the bridge, going up and getting to the ID and IM.

I guess if is not so expensive it'll look cool :D

Keep up, this is magnificent

    Answers to questions.

First off, I have found that there is no proper way to postion freight and passenger rail stations, I have managed to get them to work in some rather bizzare configurations.

As far as for the bridges going from the top of the residential plateu to the industrial sectors, I had to make sure both sides of the canyon are level, otherwise the game wouldnt allow me to build the bridge. A lot of the bridges I have made across the canyons so far were rather tricky, since the simulator was very picky about what it would and what it wouldn't allow.

I was going to post another Crystal Chronicles and City Update this morning, but that has been put on hold. Its on hold because I deicded to add a Walmart to the town, and it screwed everything up by causing the residential demands to skyrocket, speically with high wealth, and therefor the population dropped sharply, and abadnondments started to occur. Regretfully I forgot to save so i have to restart back from where I was last night, but I'll be posting those updates later on today.

    City Update 5: (Large Town):

I've managed to recover the town back to where it should have been before walmart screwed it up. Cyrtsal Junction has reached a population of about 13,000, with a rapidly growing commerical base. I've been trying to keep town growth slow, but at times I have ramped up development somewhat. I am having some probs with too many McDonald's poping up, so I keep bulldozing them except a few. I am from stl, we have walgreens everywhere, not mcdonalds. (Just thought I'd add that). Industrial development is starting to slow down and higher tech industries are moving in. Here are a couple of pics of the town so far.

I love those new neighborhoods located in the canyon! Are we going to get any info on them? Congratulations on 13,000 people! This City Journal is one of the first things I check when I sign on. Keep it up!

    City Update 6:

Crystal Junction is no longer a small or even medium sized town by any deifition. The town is now considered to be a large town with a population of just over 18,000 residents, with over 11,000 jobs being provided. The town has grown so much in late years that new facilties such as water treatment, a second water pump, and larger schools are needing to be provided. Expansion of residential communities northward, and within the canyon has exploded, as well as downtown being nearly double in size since my last update. Industrial growth so far has capped off, with commerical growth now exceeding industrial growth. There is a small base of high wealth residents, and the town in the early stages of a middle class conversion.

There are so many details in your cities! Reading this CJ is a pleasure!
Do you know that there are Avenue/gr. highway ramps? You don't need to change the highway into an elevated one. Just select the road/gr.highway ramps and hit TAB 2 times to get the appropriate ramps. Hope this helps. If you already knew, sorry!

Thanks for the compliments everyone, I really do appreciate them. I do try and put as much detail as possible in. I've read thru many other players city journals and always liked the detail they put into theirs, so with Crystal Junction I am trying to do the same. Writing this city journal kinda revitilizes my interest in the game, seeing that people are liking my work. Thx for the advice simmax about the avenue ground ramps, I did know that, but I kinda prefer the elevated ramps, since they do not take up as many city tiles as the ground ones do, but there is one at route 12 and 11 in the city.

I'll be posting another city update today along with another chronicle post, the town is starting to get on the large side.

    City Update 7 (Large Town):

Crystal Junctions expansion over the past three decades has been both extensive and rapid. Already Crystal Junction has reached a population of 26,000, with over 15,000 jobs being provided. Downtown has spread as far south and west as terrianly possible, and is about to have a major reconstruction project, which will redo downtown with higher capacity roads, avenues, and provide medium density zoing for more jobs. The industrial sector has been expanding primarily westward like downtown, but not too much southward. Recently some industrialzation has occured just south of the rail yards but not much. Residental expansion is the big one, and is occuring within the canyon westward on the platue, as well as south and eastward south of the Crystal River, and east, west, and north, north of the Crystal River. Aready new road grids are being constructed to the north in anticiaption of future growth.

I have thought about putting some trees in in the canyon, however the region is so hot and dry, not to mention sandy, about all that seems like would make sense to put into the canyon would be some shurbs. I kinda want to canyon to have a rocky like view, simular to how the grand canyon is.

Everyone I would like your opinion on which proposal you would think would work best for downtown.

WOW! I haven't been able to log on for 2 days, and look at all the growth! I love this city, and of all the City Journals, this is the only one I'd live in. And if I were to live and work there, I would have voting privaleges! And I would vote for proposal #2, because it seems the most realistic, and cities would never destroy that much stuff. BTW, thanks for updating so frequently, it's like a daily routine for me! 2.gif

The results so far are as follows

    Proposal 1 - 0 votes
    Proposal 2 - 1 vote
    Proposal 3 - 1 vote

I'd appreciate anyone else voting. The final proposal will be implimented once the population reaches about 30,000 to 32,000. So I'll be taking votes until then.

    I chose proposal 3.

To make your pictures more realistic, use [Ctrl]+ to get the camera option open, then take the picture, so that the little command console isn't in the way.

    -It'll loook a lot better!
