Regional Farming Report

I have the BSC Daeley Regional Tracking Mod installed.

However, the Regional Farm Report that is shows when entering a city shows zeros (0's) for all crop statistics, even though I have almost a dozen farms in a couple cities of this region.

The Regional Population Report which also comes with this mod works perfectly.  All the stats are filled in to values I trust.

I don't know if BSC or Daeley are still around anymore, as this was released in 2005, but I am positive that it used to work on my old computer with my original install of SC4D.  Does anyone have any ideas as to why it is failing now?  Thanks.

It is not tracking the farms because they are not BSC-made farms. The Tracker only Tracks farms that have a specific line of code hidden somewhere in them... I don't use it because it is basically useless to me. With it working on your old computer, I can't fathom a guess. Best of luck to you, though!

Actually, your response just made me rethink.  I think it looked different... yeah, it was probably a different mod!  Some type of Farming Report mod that i used to have on that computer.  Im sure it didnt require any BSC farms and it had more stats, including a strange random weather stat used in the mix.  Wish I could find that again.

As for installing BSC Farms.... they cant be too bad, can they?  Maybe I should go over to that other site and download them.  Thank you for commenting paroxysm.

i guess trying to solve the problem is to delete it then reinstall it, and if the problem persists just delete the file.

I found it!  It turns out that its not the BSC Farm mod that i used to use long ago, its another one from Daeley called the Rural Setting Mod.

I recall it was really good.  But there was some reason why i didn't want to use it except in regions where i was focusing on farms.  Cant remember the reason.  Anyway, this is the one that i had working on my other computer.  I think ill download and try it on this install now.

As for the BSC regional tracking Mod.... I suppose ill keep it, i like elements of it too, But it sounds like i have to figure out how to find and properly install (with dependancies) all the farms to make the mod actually register something.  It is probably all eye candy - it probably doesnt benefit the game desirability or finances for demand if you have multiple (or all) types of crops.  Although that would be a nice feature for a new version.  4.gif

Now that we have all this resolved....

If anyone has any other tips or tricks regarding farms, or suggestions for farm related mods that wont hurt existing non farm cities in my region, but are still great, I'm interested to hear. Thanks.

    Hi, Cougar,

One of my favorite farm mods is the Census Repository Vault, the rural part ot the Census Repository Facility.  It is a demand CAP buster.  The thing to remember about farm demand is that all development, except for farms themselves, and CS$, count toward the demand, which has a CAP of 30,000.  All other jobs and population go toward this, so that is why farms have to be done early on.  Since demand is regional, if you have neighbor cities where farm demand is gone, it will also affect your new city.  Farms hate education, air pollution, and traffic, and love good freight connections and low wealth sims.  Yes, the BSC farms add a lot of variety, with Simgoober and jmyers2043 being among the best designers.  I also like this I-R Placement Mod, by fukuda, which allows you to zone just one tile of I-R without getting the "zone too small" message.  It really comes in handy when zoning diagonal and odd shaped zones (zone with the game paused).  For streets, the NAM rural roads and SAM is the way to go, and here is a mod by uroncha that gives your SAM streets trees and farm related props, very nice.  A lot of Peg's rural stuff fits in well to enhance your farm areas, too, and deadwoods'.  kwakelaar and mickebear of SC4D did some really nice euro farms, and Chrisadams3997's Rural Renewal stuff--fences, paths, flora, etc, are a must.  dedgren has some really nice rural stuff on the 3RREX, too.  I hope this will get you well on your way to being a bonafide sim gentleman farmer.  3.gif  Or you could just end up a hick like me.  20.gif

    Have fun.

Those are some great tips and links.  Thank you!  I have been reviewing them, and loading to test.  It seems that I just add one of the 3 options for the rural props.  I'm curious if the I-R  placement mod will have any adverse or undesired effects on the other Industrial types besides I-Ag, but I'll have to just test it out.  The Census repository is working very well.  And I'm still figuring out the 3RREX proper uses and related dependancies.

I always find excellent value when Livin in Sim responds.  Thanks again.

Another farm item, also by uroncha, is the Farm Mod (STEX lists as 'Firm'). This mod changes the source for farm demand so that they will continue to develop for a longer period of time rather than stop when original demand had been met (too early for some). The mod has some specific installation reqiorements, so be sure to look them over. I honestly don't remember how effective the mod is. It's been a while since I was focused on its use. I don't remember it creating any issues. For what it's worth, just thought I'd throw this out in case you're interested...

Thanks again CaptCity you always provide great help.  I'll check that out one.  I wouldnt have found it probably with the mispelling.  Im surprised an admin can't go in and fix it.  but perhaps its complex with the way the database works.  Im a little nervous about this particular mod, because of the warnings it gives in the readme.  It sounds like it has to be applies at just the right time to work well.  And it may hurt other cities such as new ones.

Oh and I just remember that there is a farm worker multiplier mod.  I dont think it really ever worked.  It was like the Industry multiplier mod, except the farm one was for look only, it didnt produce additional income if i recall, so thats probably why i didnt keep using it.

You might be thinking of this one. It's includes optional files for the different levels of Industry. I've never tried it, so I don't know if it's effective.

I've never tried that one.  I have tried the Industry Quadrupler which doesnt affect farms, but really does work as it says it does.  I'll check out the doubler and perhaps it may have a part that does something for farms.  Thanks.
