Welcome to my first CJ; Copacorales! This is a warm and sunny region that as of right now has only a few hundred thousand people. I do not use any cheats and only mods that do not affect major game components like income and pollution. I also do not plop skyscrapers. So let's take a look at the first city, Wallalei:
Wallalei is the major commercial center of the region so far, mainly due to the fact that the region is about 95% undeveloped.

The major downtown area of Wallalei is dominated by commercial skyscrapers,(the central business district) while the residential buildings lie on the outskirts of the city.


Above is the northeastern edge of the central business district. As you can see the NE edge borders the residential and industrial sectors.


That is the southwestern end of the central business district. This area is still mainly mid rise and primarily hotels. On the beach there is a very tiny high tech industrial sector, which was an attempt to provide more industrial jobs to the sims living south of the Simtropolis Industrial Park.


The Civic Center is located on the western tip of the CBD. Here you will find the Mayor's Office (thanks to CSX development), City Hall, County Courthouse, the Stock Exchange and the 1st Precinct Police Station.


Perhaps the most exciting part of Wallalei is the Entertainment District. Here you will find restaurants, resorts, hotels, lots of parks/plazas, many clubs and great nightlife. The Convention Center and Casino are located at the southern edge of the ED.


And here is a view of the eastern ED. As you can see it's dominated by the Art Deco Hotels (designed and built by Deadwoods construction) and night clubs. NDEX Development owns much of the Eastern ED in which they have built successful nightclubs.

 

This is a shot of the medium density area outside Downtown. As you can see it's much different from Downtown

 

Here's a partial view of the massive high tech industrial center of Wallalei that borders Kaluna Heights.

SIMS DEMAND UNIQUE SKYLINE
The residents of Wallalei have grown restless with the bland and repetative CBD. According to one sim, I'm tired of driving to work and seeing the same building on every block. It's time for a change, and besides, who needs more than one Sheraton or Double Tree Hotel? So Mayor Lopez orders a massive renovation project to revitalize the once-thriving Central Business District of Wallalei.

A NEW BEGINNING?size=+1>


The massive demolition project has been underway for a few months now, and as you can see new construction has begun. The same building no longer clutters every city block and the residents of Wallalei are getting their unique skyline. It seems that the CBD is well underway to returning to its former glory. The sims are very pleased with Mayor Lopez for his efforts in rennovating downtown Wallalei. When Mayor Lopez was asked by a local reporter about where the funds for this project came from, his response was simply, What do you think you pay taxes for? The sims don't seem to mind paying a 5.0% tax rate, especially now that they are getting exactly what they want. And besides, the city funds are swelling past one million simoleons. Stay tuned for future developments in Wallalei!

You got there a lot of highrise ... do you some suburbs and slummy areas too? How about your region and transortation manp? Mass transit?

For someone who hasn't done highrise quite a long time in SC4 I must say: not bad!

Those would be the art deco hotels by Deadwoods (as mentioned above) and I'm sure you all know the palm trees are by n7 and the modified lots by kurtangletn. Thank you all for the comments, they are greatly appreciated!

About a region shot: I have only done a minor amount of terraforming, and I don't have any large cities on my map, so I think I may start a new one and just import the cities I've already made.

 

Nardo: I do have some slums, just not in Wallalei. There are some tenenments, but not many. I have made a few suburbs near the edge of my map, I would like to show some other cities soon, I just don't know when I will update right now. My computer is being really weird and will not let me do anything with the internet, so I may have to transfer my pictures to this computer to update.

No cheats? That's great! The Somy Antenna power station is quite expensive so I guess your budget is great! =)

I don't believe in cheating, it ruins everything for me personally. I don't plop down skyscrapers because to me that is cheating. As to my budget. I usually run into problems when I start out, but as the game goes on I keep a high tax rate until I have nothing else to spend my money on (that usually happens once I get past 200,000 simoleons) and then I lower the taxes untill I see fit. So in a way, I'm pretty stingy with my taxes, but I make sure to give my sims what they want and need. I haven't played the game yet today, and I don't think I will tonight, so look for an update tomorrow.
