6 Lane Avenues

I was coming home on the bus today, and was thinking about how my suroundings would translate to Sim City.  The thing that stuck out was the road the bus was traveling on. It's 3 lanes each way. Which for the major roads here in Toronto is the norm. I've often found when playing that I'm looking for some kind of transport that's larger then a road, but still not yet a ground highway. Does anyone know if something like that exists on any sites exchange?

Well that thread is locked but other info can be found here when it was in early development.

The project has been going on for over 2.5 years and it will likely take even more time until we see a release.  Just be patient.

Hey glad to know the great people who do NAM are working on it. Also the other positive note is that the thread was locked just few weeks ago. So its not one of those projects that was started years and years ago, and just petered out.

I only just got into SC4 this year (even though I bought it years ago, it just never worked on the computer I had at the time and the CD gathered dust until this one). So for a game that's 6 years old I'm glad its community is still so active

I will always continue to be an awesome, and awe inspiring game... Always reminds me of the days in Seattle that had the Freeways to-nowhere... 20 years later their finished and overcrowded.. go figure.

the only problem , is , as far as I know , unless the avenues are 3 tiles wide( I don't know if that's possible)

the only thing different will be the graphics(the road capacity will remain the same.)

you can , however , create a normal road , let buildings develop , leave them a month or two , then replace the road with an rhw , this will prevent the building from zoting , and will allow higher-capacity rhws to be used.

Unfortunately , though , this hasn't been tested yet on the new rhw , I know it worked on the old , though , I used it a lot.

Retep Nolinari: WELCOME to Simtropolis! I hope you continue like it here , the simtrop population is HUGE!4.gif

    and growing....

    Hope this helps.

You can always try to do 4 one way roads... But that would make it 4 lanes on both sides which is not what u want.

If you did that then there would be 4 intersections if you had a road intersection

Instead of the four one way roads you can have two outer one way roads with an inner road. The road can have limited access and used as a sort of express lane.

One question, why do you need the avenue to be 3 tiles in order for the capacity to go up? Why can't you program the game to increase the capacity? I'm not quite clear on how this stuff works.
